‘Violent Night’ Tops Redbox Disc Rentals; ‘M3GAN’ Tops Digital Chart

Universal Pictures Home Entertainment’s Violent Night took over the top spot on the Redbox disc rental chart the week ended Jan. 29. The actioner, which arrived on Blu-ray and DVD Jan. 24, depicts a drunken Santa (David Harbour) who stumbles upon a mansion during an armed heist and must fight his way out. It earned $49.7 million at the domestic box office.

The top disc rental the previous three weeks, Warner Bros. Discovery Home Entertainment’s Black Adam, slid to No. 2 on both the Redbox disc rental chart, which tracks DVD and Blu-ray Disc rentals at Redbox’s thousands of red kiosks, and the Redbox On Demand chart, which tracks digital VOD and sellthrough transactions.

No. 1 on the Redbox On Demand chart was Universal’s M3GAN, the creepy girl android thriller that just became available via PVOD after an $82.6 million haul from U.S. theaters.

No. 3 on the disc chart and No. 4 on the digital chart was Universal Pictures’ Ticket to Paradise, the rom-com starring George Clooney and Julia Roberts as divorced parents trying to stop their lovestruck daughter from getting married.
