‘Venom’ Sequel Leads Weekly Vudu Chart

Venom: Let There Be Carnage led the chart of the 10 most-popular titles on Fandango’s transactional digital service Vudu the week ended Nov. 28.

The Marvel Comics-based superhero film, which arrived Nov. 23 for digital purchase, stars Tom Hardy, Michelle Williams, Naomie Harris and Woody Harrelson. In the film, Eddie Brock (Hardy) interviews serial killer Cletus Kasady (Harrelson), who becomes the host of the symbiote Carnage.

Repeating at No. 2 was the latest James Bond film No Time to Die. The MGM/United Artists Releasing spy thriller, the fifth and final Bond movie featuring Daniel Craig as Agent 007, is available for premium digital rental.

Taking the bronze on the chart was Free Guy, which is available for digital purchase and rental. The Disney-owned 20th Century Studios film stars Ryan Reynolds as a bank teller who discovers he is actually a background player in an open-world video game and decides to become the hero of his own story.

Coming in at No. 4 was the MGM animated sequel The Addams Family 2, featuring the voices of Charlize Theron and Oscar Isaac. In the film, available for digital purchase, Morticia and Gomez are distraught that their children are growing up.

Landing at No. 5 was James Gunn’s The Suicide Squad, available for digital rental and on sale for digital purchase. The superhero movie is based on the DC Comics team of villains extorted into performing dangerous missions for the U.S. government.

Two titles debuted on the chart for the week — Spencer starring Kristen Stewart as Princess Diana, and the Bruce Campbell horror-comedy Black Friday, which landed at No. 8 and No. 10, respectively.

Also, consumers got into the spirit of the holidays with the 2000 live-action film How the Grinch Stole Christmas, starring Jim Carrey, coming in at No. 7, and Illumination’s 2018 animated The Grinch, with the lead character voiced by Benedict Cumberbatch, landing at No. 11. 

Vudu’s top 10 titles for the week ended Nov. 28, in terms of revenue, were:
