U.S. Studios Dominate Top 20 U.K. Home Entertainment Movie Releases

Disney/20th Century Studios’ Oscar-winning Bohemian Rhapsody is the top-selling movie on the U.K. Official Charts’ home entertainment data tracking since its inception in 2018. Disney movies tally nine of the 20 best-selling titles released digitally and on packaged media.
The Official Charts Company data is released weekly in partnership with the British Association for Screen Entertainment (BASE).
Rhapsody, starring Oscar winner Remi Malik, has generated 1.92 million unit sales, made up of 1.25 million discs across DVD, Blu-ray Disc and 4K UHD Blu-ray, in addition to 662,000 digital downloads.
Universal Pictures Home Entertainment’s Mamma Mia: Here We Go Again, has sold the most physical copies with 1.28 million discs to rank No. 2.
Notably, the most-recent James Bond movie, No Time to Die, Daniel Craig’s last turn as Agent 007, cracked the top five with 1.46 million unit sales across physical and digital formats. The movie was the U.K.’s best-selling home entertainment release in 2021.
Paramount Home Entertainment’s Top Gun: Maverick ranks 13th on the chart with 879,000-unit sales after less than 90 days of retail availability. The sequel to the 1986 original Top Gun, both starring Tom Cruise, ranks as the No. 1 downloaded movie in chart history with 766,000 transactions.
