

‘Top Gun: Maverick’ Leads Redbox Disc Rentals for Sixth Week

Paramount Home Entertainment’s Top Gun: Maverick was No. 1 for a sixth week on the Redbox disc rental chart the week ended Dec. 11.
The fighter jet sequel starring Tom Cruise slipped to No. 4 on the Redbox On Demand chart, which tracks digital VOD and sellthrough transactions.
The top Redbox On Demand title was Universal’s 2018 animated The Grinch, getting a boost in the lead-up to Christmas. No. 5 was the 2000 live-action How the Grinch Stole Christmas based on the Dr. Seuss book.
The previous week’s top digital title, Paramount’s’s Smile, slipped to No. 2.
No. 2 on the disc rental chart, which tracks DVD and Blu-ray Disc rentals at Redbox’s thousands of red kiosks, was Paramount’s Medieval, a historical epic starring Ben Foster and Michael Caine, and inspired by the true story of mercenary leader Jan Zizka, who leads a rebel army against the corrupt kings seeking the throne of the Holy Roman Empire. It was the No. 10 digital title.

The No. 3 disc rental was Savage Salvation, a Redbox-exclusive about a sheriff’s race to stop a vigilante’s deadly crusade against the town’s drug dealers. It was the No. 6 digital title.
No. 4 on the disc rental chart was Screen Media’s Poker Face, a film directed by and starring Russell Crowe about a billionaire whose poker night is attacked by thieves.
The No. 5 disc rental was Lionsgate’s Clerks III, director Kevin Smith’s latest comedy, in which the workers of the Quick Stop convenience store decide to make a movie about their lives.
Warner’s Black Adam slipped to No. 3 on the Redbox On Demand chart.
