‘Top Gun: Maverick’ Leads November Disc Sellers; ‘Spider-Man: No Way Home’ Still No. 1 for 2022
December 17, 2022
Paramount Home Entertainment’s Top Gun: Maverick was No. 1 on the top 10 list of physical-media sales for November 2022, according to the NPD Group’s VideoScan tracking service that compiles DVD and Blu-ray transactions. The result is unsurprising given that Maverick topped the weekly sales chart each week since its release on disc at the beginning of the month — a streak that continued into December, making it the likely No. 1 for that month as well.
Top Gun: Maverick had been No. 5 in October, as it was made available by retailers on Halloween. Its dominant performance in November was enough to make it the No. 2 seller for the year to date with one month to go.
The top 10 chart for November contained no other titles that were newly available during the month.
The previous month’s top seller, Disney-owned Marvel Studios’ Thor: Love and Thunder, dropped to No. 6 on the November sales chart.
November’s No. 2 top-seller was Universal Pictures’ Jurassic World Dominion, down two spots from October but still ranking high since its disc release in August.
Rising to No. 3 during November was Warner’s The Batman, a May disc release that saw a surge in sales of its 4K Ultra HD edition during Black Friday sales.
Returning to the monthly top 10 chart, at No. 4, was Sony Pictures’ Spider-Man: No Way Home, which remains the top-selling title of the year.
Rounding out the month’s top five was Universal’s Minions: The Rise of Gru, which had been No. 7 in October.

The debut of Maverick as the No. 2 seller on the 2022 sales chart caused a bit of a reshuffle, with the rest of the top 10 dropping a spot for the most part, and causing Paramount’s Yellowstone: Season 4 to drop off the list.
The Batman moved up a spot to the No. 6 position, leaping over Universal’s Sing 2 and Disney’s Encanto, which each dropped two spots.
