‘Top Gun: Maverick’ Earns 11th Week Atop U.K. Home Entertainment Sales Chart

Paramount Home Entertainment’s Top Gun: Maverick saw its 11th week on top of the Official Film Chart, the U.K.’s home entertainment sales barometer, through Jan. 11.

Dominating both physical copies and digital sales, the sequel to the 1986 original Top Gun extended its record-breaking non-consecutive reign as the top-selling home entertainment release in 2022 and early 2023.

Warner Bros. Home Entertainment’s Elvis biopic, starring Austin Butler as the King of Rock ‘n Roll, moved up two spots to No. 2. The critically-acclaimed movie reached No. 1 on the chart upon its Aug. 9, 2022, retail release.

Separately, Universal Pictures Home Entertainment’s The Croods: A New Age is back on the Official Film Chart at No. 3 for the first time since 2021. The movie helped jumpstart premium VOD releases after generating $100 million in in-home revenue during the pandemic.

Universal’s Jurassic World Dominion dropped one spot to No. 4, while Warner’s Fantastic Beasts: The Secrets of Dumbledore moved up one spot to No. 5. Warner’s The Batman was No. 6, with Universal’s Downton Abbey: A New Era (No. 7), Sony Pictures Home Entertainment’s Spider-Man: No Way Home (No. 8) and Bullet Train (No. 10) rounding out the top 10.

The week’s highest new entry was Sony Pictures’ Lyle, Lyle, Crocodile at No. 9. The live-action adaptation of the children’s book of the same name is voiced by Shawn Mendes, with Javier Badem and Winslow Fegley in co-starring roles.
