‘Thor: Love and Thunder’ No. 1 on U.K. Home Entertainment Sales Chart Following Disc Release

Disney/Marvel Studios’ superhero actioner Thor: Love and Thunder topped the Official Film Chart in the U.K. for the very first time the week ended Oct. 12 following its release on disc.

The sequel to 2017’s Thor: Ragnarok, and again starring Chris Hemsworth as Thor, the 29th movie in the Marvel Cinematic Universe moved from the No. 4 spot to No. 1 after its release on DVD, Blu-ray Disc and 4K Ultra HD Blu-ray.

Thor’s disc sales success helped the title finish 6,500 unit sales ahead of the week’s No. 2 — and highest new entry of the week — Sony Pictures Home Entertainment’s action-comedy Bullet Train, starring Brad Pitt, Joey King, Aaron Taylor-Johnson and Brian Tyree Henry.

Previous week’s chart-topper Jurassic World Dominion (Universal Pictures Home Entertainment) dropped to No. 3, finishing ahead of the studio’s Minions: The Rise of Gru at No. 4. Warner Bros. Home Entertainment’s Elvis biopic moved to No. 5.

Sony’s Where the Crawdads Sing, featuring Daisy Edgar-Jones in a murder-mystery thriller based on the 2018 novel of the same name by Delia Owens, finished No. 6 in its chart debut.

Paramount Home Entertainment’s former chart topper Top Gun: Maverick finished No. 7, followed by Studiocanal’s The Railway Children Return (No. 8), Universal’s horror movie The Black Phone (No. 9) and Downton Abbey: A New Era (No. 10).
