‘The Croods: A New Age’ Tops February Disc Sales, Jumps to No. 1 for 2021

Universal Pictures Home Entertainment’s The Croods: A New Age was No. 1 on the top 10 list of combined DVD and Blu-ray Disc unit sales for February 2021 according to the NPD Group’s VideoScan tracking service.

The DreamWorks Animation sequel was released on disc Feb. 23 and led the weekly disc sales chart the final week of the month, drawing enough sales to clinch not only the month but also move into the top spot for the year so far. The two-film “Croods” collection was the month’s No. 8 seller.

The No. 2 seller for February and the year-to-date is STX Films’ Greenland, distributed on disc by Universal Pictures. Released on disc Feb. 9, Greenland topped weekly sales the weeks ended Feb. 13 and 20.

The No. 3 February seller was another Universal release, Let Him Go, released on disc Feb. 2. It was the top weekly seller the first week of the month.

The horror/comedy hybrid Freaky gave Universal the top four titles for the month of February.

Warner Bros. had the next three sellers, with 2017’s Justice League at No. 5 as superhero fans prepare for Zack Snyder’s four-hour director’s cut coming to HBO Max March 18.

No. 6 was The Meg and No. 7 was The Mule, both from 2018. The eight-film “Harry Potter” collection at No. 10 gave Warner four spots on the monthly top 10.

The only title in the top 10 not from Universal or Warner was Disney’s Mulan remake at No. 9.

The No. 1 seller in January, Warner Bros. Home Entertainment’s Tenet, dropped to No. 3 for the year to date.
