Marvel Comics-Based ‘Madame Web’ Tops Weekly Fandango at Home Chart

The Marvel Comics-based Madam Web topped the chart of the 10 most-popular films on Fandango’s transactional digital service Fandango at Home (previously Vudu) for the week ended March 17.

Part of Sony’s franchise of “Spider-Man” characters, Madam Web, available for premium digital rental and sale starting March 15, tells the standalone origin story of a Marvel heroine. It stars Dakota Johnson as Cassandra Webb, a paramedic in Manhattan who may have clairvoyant abilities. Forced to confront revelations about her past, she forges a relationship with three young women destined for powerful futures — if they can all survive a deadly present.

Remaining at No. 2 on the chart was the Jason Statham actioner The Beekeeper, available for digital purchase. The Amazon-MGM Studios film follows a former operative of a powerful organization known as the Beekeepers (Statham), who upends his cover life and embarks on a brutal revenge mission to dismantle corruption at the highest levels of society.

Dropping from the top spot to No. 3 on the chart was Universal Pictures’ Argylle, which arrived for premium digital purchase and rental March 5. In the film, when an author’s spy novels threaten to expose a real-life espionage organization, she begins a globetrotting race to save her life and untangle her imagination and reality. The cast includes Bryce Dallas Howard, Sam Rockwell, Bryan Cranston, Catherine O’Hara, Henry Cavill, Sofia Boutella, Dua Lipa, Ariana DeBose, John Cena and Samuel L. Jackson.

Warner Bros.’ Wonka fell from No. 3 to No. 4 on the chart. Based on the iconic character at the center of Roald Dahl’s children’s book Charlie and the Chocolate Factory, the musical is available for digital rental and on sale for digital purchase. Starring Timothée Chalamet in the title role, the adventure introduces audiences to a young Willy Wonka, as he becomes the world’s greatest inventor, magician and chocolate-maker.

It follows Bea (Sydney Sweeney) and Ben (Glen Powell), who look like the perfect couple. But after an amazing first date, something happens that turns their fiery hot attraction ice cold — until they find themselves unexpectedly thrust together at a destination wedding in Australia.
