‘M3GAN’ Remains Atop Redbox Digital Chart; ‘Mindcage’ Tops Disc Rentals

Universal Pictures Home Entertainment’s M3GAN remained No. 1 for a second week on the Redbox On Demand chart the week ended Feb. 5. The thriller about a creepy android girl who befriends an orphan earned $87.9 million at U.S. theaters.

The top title on the Redbox disc rental chart, which tracks DVD and Blu-ray Disc rentals at Redbox’s thousands of red kiosks, was Lionsgate’s Mindcage, a thriller about two detectives who seek the help of an incarcerated serial killer to catch a copycat. It was No. 6 on the Redbox On Demand chart, which tracks digital VOD and sellthrough transactions.

The previous week’s top disc rental, Universal’s Violent Night, slipped to No. 2. The film depicts a drunken Santa (David Harbour) who stumbles upon a mansion during an armed heist and must fight his way out. It earned $49.8 million at the domestic box office.

Warner Bros. Discovery Home Entertainment’s Black Adam slid to No. 3 on the Redbox disc rental chart, and No. 4 on the digital chart.

The No. 4 disc rental was Lionsgate’s Angry Neighbors, a comedy about a grumpy novelist who resents his wealthy neighbor in the Hamptons building a mega-mansion next door.

No. 5 on the disc chart and No. 7 on the digital chart was Universal Pictures’ Ticket to Paradise, the rom-com starring George Clooney and Julia Roberts as divorced parents trying to stop their lovestruck daughter from getting married.

The No. 2 digital title was Lionsgate’s Plane, an actioner about a pilot (Gerard Butler) who saves his passengers from a lightning strike by making a risky landing on a war-torn island, and then must team with an accused murderer (Mike Colter) to free the passengers after they are taken hostage by dangerous rebels.

The No. 3 digital title Screen Media’s The Locksmith, about a former prisoner (Ryan Phillippe) who is pulled back into a world of crime despite wanting to settle down with his detective girlfriend (Kate Bosworth) and their daughter.

The No. 5 digital title was Sony Pictures’ The Woman King, which was No. 7 on the disc chart.

‘Violent Night’ Takes Top Spot on Redbox Digital Chart

Universal Pictures Home Entertainment’s Violent Night jumped to No. 1 on the Redbox On Demand chart the week ended Dec. 25.

David Harbour stars in the thriller about a team of mercenaries who take a group of people hostage on Christmas Eve, only for Santa Claus to come to the rescue.

Universal’s Ticket to Paradise remained No. 1 on the Redbox disc rental chart, which tracks DVD and Blu-ray Disc rentals at Redbox’s thousands of red kiosks. The rom-com stars Julia Roberts and George Clooney as exes who find themselves on a shared mission to stop their lovestruck daughter from making the same mistake they once made.

Sony Pictures’ The Woman King stayed No. 2 on the Redbox disc rental chart, but dropped to No. 6 on the Redbox On Demand chart, which tracks digital VOD and sellthrough transactions. It had topped the digital chart the previous week. The historical drama stars Viola Davis as the titular character and is inspired by true events that took place in the Kingdom of Dahomey, one of the most powerful states of Africa in the 18th and 19th centuries.

The No. 3 disc rental was Lionsgate’s Paradise City. Bruce Willis and John Travolta face off in the actioner.

Paramount Home Entertainment’s Top Gun: Maverick was No. 4 on the disc rental chart and No. 5 on the digital chart.

Paramount’s Smile slipped to No. 5 on the digital chart No. 9 on the disc rental chart. The film stars Sosie Bacon as a therapist who begins to experience an overwhelming terror that takes over her life after witnessing a patient’s bizarre suicide.

Universal’s 2018 animated The Grinch slipped to No. 3 on the digital chart, but also rose to No. 10 on the disc rental chart. The 2000 live-action How the Grinch Stole Christmas, also based on the Dr. Seuss book, was up a spot to be the No. 2 digital title.

The No. 4 digital title was Lionsgate’s Knives Out, the 2019 mystery from director Rian Johnson, which got a bump from the newly released sequel, Glass Onion.

‘Matrix Resurrections’ Still Atop Redbox Disc Rentals; ‘Spider-Man’ No. 1 on VOD Chart

Warner Bros. Home Entertainment’s The Matrix Resurrections remained No. 1 on Redbox’s disc rental chart the week ended March 20. The fourth “Matrix” movie and the first in 18 years earned $37.7 million at the domestic box office.

The Matrix Resurrections was No. 2 on the Redbox On Demand chart, which tracks digital VOD and sellthrough transactions.

The top title on the Redbox On Demand chart was Sony Pictures’ Spider-Man: No Way Home, which was released through digital retailers March 15. The superhero film, produced in collaboration with Marvel Studios, has earned nearly $800 million domestically and $1.9 billion worldwide.

The previous week’s top digital title, the Scream relaunch from Paramount Home Entertainment, dropped to No. 3 on the Redbox On Demand chart.

The No. 2 title on Redbox’s disc rental chart, which tracks DVD and Blu-ray Disc rentals at Redbox’s more than 40,000 red kiosks, was Sony Pictures’ Ghostbusters: Afterlife, which was No. 5 on the digital chart.

MGM’s House of Gucci, distributed on disc by Universal Pictures Home Entertainment, was the No. 3 disc rental and No. 8 on the digital chart.

The No. 4 digital title once again was MGM’s Dog, a comedy starring Channing Tatum as a man escorting a military dog to the funeral of his fallen commander.

Disney-owned 20th Century Studios’ The King’s Man dropped to No. 4 on the disc rental chart.

No. 5 on Redbox’s disc rental chart, and No. 9 on the digital chart, was Lionsgate’s American Underdog, the biopic about Kurt Warner’s rise to becoming an unlikely NFL hall of famer.
