JustWatch: ‘Everything, Everywhere All at Once,’ ‘White Lotus’ Top Weekly Streaming Through Jan. 15

The Golden Globe-winning sci-fi comedy movie Everything, Everywhere All at Once (Showtime Anytime) and the HBO Max original dysfunctional family series “The White Lotus” topped weekly streaming through Jan. 15, according to new data from JustWatch, which tracks the streaming video habits of 20 million users across 59 markets, including the United States.

Everything, which stars Michelle Yeoh as a middle-age Chinese immigrant who is swept up in an insane adventure, in which she alone can save the world by exploring other universes connecting with the lives she could have led, was the top-streamed movie in December.

The movie topped The Menu (HBO Max) and Netflix’s Glass Onion, while perennial chart toppers “Yellowstone” (Paramount Network/Peacock) and “Wednesday” (Netflix) rounded out the top-streamed episodic program podium.

HBO Max Spotlights 2023 Content Lineup

HBO Max Dec. 21 announced a brand promotional spot showcasing new original and returning shows, including drama “The Last of Us,” debuting Jan. 15; limited series “White House Plumbers,” debuting in March; and “The Idol,” “True Detective: Night Country” and “Rain Dogs.” Featured Max Originals include the adult animated series “Velma,” coming Jan. 12; the limited series “Love & Death” and “Full Circle”; and the return of “Warrior.”

HBO Max is slated to meld its platform with Discovery+ next year reportedly under the “Max” standalone banner.

The spot also features returning shows, including HBO Original drama series “Succession,” “Perry Mason,” “The Gilded Age” and “Winning Time: The Rise of the Lakers Dynasty,” as well as HBO Original comedies “Barry,” “Somebody Somewhere,” “The Righteous Gemstones” and “Curb Your Enthusiasm.” Returning Max Originals include Emmy-winning comedy Hacks,” “And Just Like That …,” “Our Flag Means Death,” “Julia” and “The Other Two,” among others.

HBO/HBO Max earned 38 Emmys Awards in 2022, spearheaded by “The White Lotus,” and featured the the debuts of the HBO Original series and specials “House of the Dragon,” “The Rehearsal,” “Jerrod Carmichael: Rothaniel,” along with new seasons of “The White Lotus,” “Euphoria” and “Industry,” as well as Max Originals “Peacemaker,” “The Sex Lives of College Girls” and “Love, Lizzo,” among others.

Reelgood: ‘Wednesday,’ ‘White Lotus’ Top Weekly Streaming Through Dec. 14

Netflix and HBO Max continue their ongoing battle for streaming content popularity with Tim Burton’s “Wednesday” and Mike White’s “The White Lotus” dominating weekly viewership through Dec. 14, according to new data from Reelgood, which uses first-party data from its 5 million users in the U.S. interacting with movies and TV shows on the platform in real time.

“Wednesday,” starring Jenna Ortega as Wednesday Addams from “The Addams Family,” topped the chart for the third week, edging the second season of “Lotus,” which finds an all-new cast of characters on a search of personal discovery, intrigue and drama at another namesake resort (actually The Four Seasons), this time in Taormina, Sicily. The first season took place on the Hawaiian island of Maui.

The series bested Sony’s action comedy, Bullet Train, starring Brad Pitt as a ex-hit man and now streaming exclusively on Netflix, and season five of “Yellowstone,” which streams on Peacock.
