Kino Lorber Sets ‘The Big Easy’ Blu-ray Disc Release Date for April 4

Kino Lorber on April 4 will release the 1987 film The Big Easy on Blu-ray Disc at a suggested retail price of $29.95.

Directed by Jim McBride, the neo-noir thriller stars Dennis Quaid, Ellen Barkin, Ned Beatty, John Goodman, and Grace Zabriskie.

The Big Easy was a box office that combined New Orleans nightlife with steamy romance and sultry suspense. When a hood’s murder triggers a bloody gangland drug war, detective Remy McSwain (Quaid) is on the scene. The smooth-talking Remy meets his match in Anne Osborne (Barkin), a no-nonsense assistant district attorney in town to investigate police corruption. At first they are at odds, but then the sparks start flying.

The late film critic Roger Ebert had high praise for the film, calling it “one of the richest American films of the year. It also happens to be a great thriller.”

The new Kino Lorber Blu-ray comes from a 2021 HD master by Lionsgate. It features a new audio commentary by director McBride, moderated by filmmaker Douglas Hosdale.
