‘Madame Web’ Due on 4K Ultra HD, Blu-ray and DVD April 30

Sony Pictures Home Entertainment will release the Marvel Comics-based Madame Web on 4K Ultra HD, Blu-ray and DVD April 30.

The film, which earned $99.8 million at the global box office, tells the standalone origin story of one of Marvel publishing’s most enigmatic heroines. The suspense thriller stars Dakota Johnson as Cassandra Webb, a paramedic in Manhattan who may have clairvoyant abilities. Forced to confront revelations about her past, she forges a relationship with three young women destined for powerful futures — if they can all survive a deadly present.

Extras on 4K Ultra HD, Blu-ray and digital include a gag reel; Easter eggs; “Oracle of the Page”; “Fight Like a Spider”; “Future Vision”; “Casting the Web”; and a deleted scene. Extras on the DVD include “Future Vision” and “Casting the Web.”

‘Aquaman and the Lost Kingdom’ Available Via Premium Digital Jan. 23, on Disc March 12

The DC superhero sequel Aquaman and the Lost Kingdom debuts for premium digital purchase and rental on Jan. 23 from Warner Bros. Discovery Home Entertainment.

The film, which has earned $378.3 million at the global box office, will be available to purchase on Blu-ray Disc, DVD and 4K Ultra HD disc March 12.

Directed by James Wan (Aquaman, The Conjuring, Saw), Aquaman and The Lost Kingdom features Jason Momoa (Aquaman, Dune, “Game of Thrones”) reprising his role as Arthur Curry along with returning stars Patrick Wilson (The Conjuring, Watchmen), Amber Heard (Aquaman, Zombieland), Yahya Abdul-Mateen II (Aquaman, The Matrix: Resurrection) and Academy Award Winner Nicole Kidman (The Hours, Moulin Rouge, The Others).

In the film, Arthur Curry/Aquaman (Momoa) is balancing his duties as both the King of Atlantis and a new father. Orm (Wilson), Aquaman’s half-brother and his nemesis, must now step into a new role as his brother’s reluctant ally. Black Manta (Yahya Abdul-Mateen II) is committed more than ever to avenge his father’s death by destroying Aquaman, his family and Atlantis. Also reprising their roles are Dolph Lundgren as King Nereus and Randall Park as Dr. Stephen Shin.

Premium digital ownership includes the special feature “Aquaman Through Fire and Water.”

The 4K Ultra HD and Blu-ray releases include “Atlantean Blood Is Thicker Than Water,” exploring how Patrick Wilson and Jason Momoa bonded over the new unexpected​ alliance between Arthur and Orm and came together both as characters and as​ friends on and off set​.

DC Comics Film ‘Blue Beetle’ Due on Premium Digital Sept. 26, Disc Oct. 31

The DC Comics-based feature Blue Beetle will debut for premium digital rental (PVOD, $19.99) and sale (PEST, $24.99) on Sept. 26. The Warner Bros. film will be released on DVD, 4K Ultra HD and Blu-ray Disc, as well as regular digital, on Oct. 31.

The film has earned $120.6 million at the global box office.

In the DC superhero’s first-ever standalone feature film, recent college grad Jaime Reyes returns home full of aspirations for his future, only to find that home is not quite as he left it. As he searches to find his purpose in the world, fate intervenes when Jaime unexpectedly finds himself in possession of an ancient relic of alien biotechnology: the Scarab. When the Scarab suddenly chooses Jaime to be its symbiotic host, he is bestowed with an incredible suit of armor capable of extraordinary and unpredictable powers, forever changing his destiny as he becomes the Blue Beetle.

Extras on PEST and disc include “Generations: Blue Beetle,” a four-part making-of documentary; the “Nana Knows Best”  featurette, about Nana’s transformation from an adorable “abuelita” into a machine gun-wielding revolutionary; and the two-part featurette “Scarab Vision,” in which star Xolo Maridueña hosts a series of scene study walk throughs showcasing how the scarab works and the role it plays in some of Blue Beetle’s most epic moments.

‘Venom: Let There Be Carnage’ Due on Digital Nov. 23, 4K UHD, Blu-ray and DVD Dec. 14

The Marvel Comics superhero film Venom: Let There Be Carnage will be released on digital Nov. 23 and on 4K UHD, Blu-ray and DVD Dec. 14 from Sony Pictures Home Entertainment.

The film earned $442 million at the global box office.

Tom Hardy returns as the lethal protector Venom. In search of his next big story, journalist Eddie Brock (Hardy) lands an exclusive interview with convicted murderer and death row inmate Cletus Kasady (Woody Harrelson), who discovers Eddie’s secret and becomes the host for Carnage, a menacing and terrifying symbiote. Eddie and Venom must get past their contentious relationship to defeat him.

Directed by Andy Serkis (Mowgli: Legend of the Jungle) with a story by Tom Hardy and Kelly Marcel and screenplay by Kelly Marcel, Venom: Let There Be Carnage also stars Michelle Williams and Naomie Harris as Shriek.

The 4K Ultra HD Blu-ray, Blu-ray and digital include bloopers and outtakes, deleted scenes, and several making of featurettes. The DVD includes one featurette.

‘Secrets of the Rise of Ultraman Collection’ Coming July 10 From Mill Creek

Mill Creek Entertainment July 10 will release Secrets of the Rise of Ultraman Collection, a Blu-ray set containing nine exclusive episodes of the original “Ultraman” series featuring English dubs, collectible artwork, and a bonus feature from Marvel Comics and Starlight Runner Productions.

The $25.99 set will be exclusively sold (preorder here) on DeepDiscount.com as part of the launch of a dedicated “Ultraman” storefront that will offer all of Mill Creek Entertainment’s current Blu-ray/Steelbook releases in addition to other “Ultraman” related merchandise and products.

In the set, Ultraman and the Science Patrol will fight for peace against Kemular, Goldon, Seabozu, Skydon and more. The set features the original broadcast edits fully remastered in HD and available for the first time ever with English dubs in DTS-HD Master Audio. Included in the exclusive Blu-ray release is a 12-page collectible booklet and episode guide. Also included is a new five-part bonus feature, “Secrets of the Rise of Ultraman,” made in collaboration with Marvel Comics and Starlight Runner Productions. The video series takes place within the multiverse of the “Ultraman” series that explores the connections between the various television series and movies and the all-new storyline of the comics.

Mill Creek Entertainment has licensed the “Ultraman” back-catalog from Tsuburaya Productions through international distribution partner Indigo Entertainment.

A Drive-in Premiere for ‘The Boys’

Amazon Prime Video Sept. 3 hosted a drive-in screening of “The Boys” season two ahead of its Sept. 4 premiere. Stars Antony Starr, Jack Quaid, Erin Moriarty, Karen Fukuhara, Shantel VanSanten, Claudia Doumit, Langston Kerman and Abraham Lim arrived at Level 8 at The Grove in Los Angeles to celebrate the new season. Guests arrived in their cars through Lucy the Whale, who makes a special appearance in the third episode of season two. Ahead of the drive-in special screening, guests were invited to a socially distant pre-party in their cars, where they had their pictures taken at the drive-through photo op activation, danced in their cars to the music of DJ Michelle Pesce, and enjoyed Umami Burgers, Popcorn and Swedish Fish. Before the two-episode screening, fans enjoyed a pre-taped introduction from the cast and executive producers Eric Kripke, Seth Rogen and Evan Greenberg. A special encore drive-in screening for cast and fans is also being held Sept. 4 and is at full capacity.

The first three episodes of season two premiere Sept. 4, with new episodes available each Friday following, culminating in a season finale Oct. 9. The eight-episode Amazon Original series will be available exclusively on Prime Video in more than 200 territories around the world.
