BritBox International Names Sarah Hird SVP, Corporate & Consumer Communications

U.K.-based subscription streaming VOD platform BritBox International Sept. 21 named Sarah Hird SVP of corporate and consumer communications. Reporting directly to Reemah Sakaan, CEO of BritBox International, Hird will be responsible for leading communications on a global basis as BritBox International works with its international platform partners to deliver British content more than 2.5 million members across all regions.

Hird joins BritBox International from DAZN Group, where she was VP of global communications, leading consumer, corporate and trade communications activity across DAZN’s worldwide sports streaming service, original programming and wider sports media businesses.

“Sarah is a proven communications leader and a strong addition to the recently announced executive appointments for the BritBox International Executive team,” Sakaan said in a statement. “Sarah brings a deep knowledge and international expertise that will be invaluable as we bring BritBox International and its expanding lineup of original content to an increasingly global audience.”

Yorkshire-born, Hird previously held the position of director of communications for The Walt Disney Co. EMEA, helping launch the Disney+ streaming service to international markets, and leading on the “Star Wars” franchise communications as part of various senior roles in a 17-year career at the media giant. She is also a talent relations volunteer for the Academy of Motion Picture Arts & Sciences, helping with communications activity on the Oscars show since starting out in the entertainment industry.
