‘Jurassic World: Dominion’ Remains No. 1 on Weekly Vudu Chart

Universal Pictures’ Jurassic World: Dominion for a third consecutive week remained atop the chart of the 10 most popular films on Fandango’s transactional digital service Vudu the week ended July 31.

Available for premium digital rental and purchase beginning July 15, the movie co-stars franchise regulars Chris Pratt and Bryce Dallas Howard, along with cast members Laura Dern, Sam Neil, and Jeff Goldblum from the original series. It’s the third in the “Jurassic World” franchise and the sixth in the overall “Jurassic” franchise. In the film, set four years after the destruction of Isla Nubar, dinosaurs roam the Earth again.

Also remaining at No. 2 for a third week was Universal’s horror film The Black Phone, also available for premium digital rental and purchase. It follows a teenage boy who is abducted by a sadistic killer (Ethan Hawke) and discovers a phone in his basement that allows him to communicate with the killer’s previous victims.

Rising from No. 6 to No. 3 on the chart was Warner’s Fantastic Beasts: The Secrets of Dumbledore, available for digital rental and newly on sale for digital purchase. In the latest installment about J.K. Rowlings’ wizarding world, professor Albus Dumbledore (Jude Law) knows the powerful dark wizard Gellert Grindelwald is moving to seize control. Unable to stop him alone, he entrusts Magizoologist Newt Scamander (Eddie Redmayne) to lead an intrepid team of wizards, witches and a Muggle baker on a dangerous mission.

The four-hour director’s cut of the 2017 superhero team-up Justice League is a re-edited and extended version of the DC Comics adaptation, which he couldn’t finish in 2017, and serves as the sequel to his 2013 film Man of Steel and its 2016 follow-up Batman v Superman: Dawn of Justice.

Among the titles debuting on the chart were DC’s animated Green Lantern: Beware My Power, landing at No. 8, and Lionsgate’s crime thriller Paradise Highway, starring Juliette Binoche and Morgan Freeman, coming in at No. 9.
