Paramount Pictures Home Entertainment’s Sonic the Hedgehog 2 moved up to No. 1 on the U.K’s Official Film Chart on digital sales only the week ended June 29. After being nipped for the top spot the previous week, the sequel co-starring Jim Carrey moved past previous week chart-topper The Batman from Warner Bros.
The caped crusader didn’t fall far, landing at the No. 2 spot, thanks to sales on physical formats, including DVD, Blu-ray Disc and 4K Ultra HD Blu-ray Disc. The original 1986 Top Gun filled out the podium in the No. 3 spot.
The week’s highest new entry is Universal Pictures Home Entertainment’s The Bad Guys at No. 4. The animated comedy heist film — whose voice cast includes Sam Rockwell, Craig Robinson, Richard Ayoade and Alex Borstein — tells the story of a group of animal criminals, who, to avoid a prison sentence, must become model citizens with disastrous and hilarious results.
Sony Pictures Home Entertainment’s Morbius (No. 5) and Warner Bros. Pictures’ Dune (No. 6) both dropped one spot, while Universal’s animated musical Sing 2 rose two spots to No. 7. Warner’s The Matrix Resurrections finished at No. 8, and Sony Pictures’ Spider-Man: No Way Home crawled back to No. 9.
Finally, Dr. Who & The Daleks made its Official Film Chart debut at No. 10. Released in 1965, and starring Peter Cushing in the lead role, the British sci-fi movie marked the first time character was seen on screen in color. The movie was released in a 4K UHD Blu-ray Disc collector’s edition.
