Oscar-Lauded ‘Women Talking’ Due on Digital Feb. 21, Disc March 7

Orion Pictures’ Academy Award-nominated drama Women Talking will be available to own on digital Feb 21 from MGM, and on Blu-ray and DVD March 7 from Universal Pictures Home Entertainment.

An adaptation of Miriam Toews’s internationally best-selling novel of the same name and inspired by true events, the film, about a remote colony’s fight for freedom against all odds, follows the women of an isolated religious community who grapple with reconciling their reality with their faith.

The film has been nominated for two Oscars, Best Picture and Best Adapted Screenplay, and was named one of the top 10 films of 2022 by the National Board of Review and American Film Institute.

Written and directed by Academy Award nominated filmmaker Sarah Polley, Women Talking stars Academy Award winner Frances McDormand (Nomadland, Three Billboards Outside Ebbing, Missouri), Critic’s Choice Award winner Rooney Mara (Carol, The Girl with the Dragon Tattoo), Emmy Award winner Claire Foy (“The Crown,” First Man), BAFTA Award winner Jessie Buckley (The Lost Daughter, Wild Rose), and Sheila McCarthy (I’ve Heard the Mermaids Sing), along with Emmy Award winner Ben Whishaw (“A Very English Scandal,” No Time to Die).

Neo-Noir Classic ‘Miami Blues’ Headed to Blu-ray July 12 in MVD Rewind Collection

The 1990 comedic crime drama Miami Blues will be released on Blu-ray Disc July 12 as part of the MVD Rewind Collection.

In the MGM neo-noir film, Junior Frenger (Alec Baldwin, The Departed, “30 Rock”) is trouble and Sgt. Hoke Moseley (Fred Ward, Tremors, Short Cuts) knows it. The smooth-talking, good-looking ex-con tiptoes on the borderline of psychotic behavior. The detective is hot on his trail after Junior kills a Hare Krishna, robs a pickpocket, then steals Moseley’s badge, his gun — and even his false teeth. Junior’s running around the streets of Miami posing as a cop, assaulting people and making arrests. And even though he promises his live-in lover (an ex-prostitute played by Jennifer Jason Leigh, The Hateful Eight) that he’ll stay out of crime, he continues playing cops and robbers on both sides of the law.

Written and directed by George Armitage (Grosse Pointe Blank, The Big Bounce, The Last of the Finest), the film was produced by Jonathan Demme (The Silence of the Lambs, Philadelphia, Something Wild).

The feature is presented in HD with a master provided by MGM.

Special features include interviews with Alec Baldwin and Jennifer Jason Leigh; the original theatrical trailer; three TV spots; the original Orion Home Video trailer; a photo gallery; a mini-poster; reversible artwork; and a limited edition slipcover for the first pressing only.

Like, ‘Valley Girl’ Bows on Disc Oct. 6

Valley Girl, a musical romantic comedy adaptation of the 1983 film, arrives on Blu-ray and DVD from Warner Bros. Home Entertainment and MGM Oct. 6.

From MGM’s Orion Pictures and directed by Rachel Lee Goldenberg, the film stars Jessica Rothe (Happy Death Day, La La Land) as Julie Richman, Josh Whitehouse (The Knight Before Christmas) as Randy, Mae Whitman (The Perks of Being a Wallflower, Scott Pilgrim vs. the World) as Jack, and Judy Greer (13 Going on 30, Ant-Man, 27 Dresses) as Diana.

Set to a new wave ’80s soundtrack, the film follows a pair of young lovers from different backgrounds defy their parents and friends to stay together.

The 1983 classic, directed by Martha Coolidge, starred Nicolas Cage and Deborah Foreman.

‘Bill & Ted Face the Music’ VOD Release Moving Up to Aug. 28

Bill & Ted Face the Music will come out on VOD and in select theaters Aug. 28, moving up from the Sept. 1 date announced during Comic-Con@Home.

Bill & Ted star Alex Winter revealed the news on Twitter.

In the Orion Pictures film, the stakes are higher than ever for the time-traveling William  “Bill” S. Preston Esq. (Alex Winter) and Theodore  “Ted” Logan (Keanu Reeves). To fulfill their rock and roll destiny, the now middle-aged best friends set out on a new adventure when a visitor from the future warns them that only their song can save life as we know it. Along the way, they will be helped by their daughters, a new batch of historical figures, and a few music legends to seek the song that will set their world right and bring harmony in the universe.
