JustWatch: Apple’s ‘The Tragedy of Macbeth’ Scores Streaming Movie Win

The Tragedy of Macbeth, the new historical thriller on Apple TV+ written and directed by Joel Coen, and based on the play Macbeth by Shakespeare, was the top-streamed movie for the week ended Jan. 16, according to new data from JustWatch.

The first film directed by one of the Coen brothers without the other’s involvement stars Denzel Washington, Frances McDormand (who also produced the film), Bertie Carvel, Alex Hassell, Corey Hawkins, Harry Melling and Brendan Gleeson.

The title topped The Last Duel on HBO Max and Eternals on Disney+, according to the content recommendation website, which tracks more than 20 million users’ monthly streaming decisions across 54 countries.

Among episodic programming, Paramount Network’s “Yellowstone” continued its string of weekly dominance, topping DC superhero “Peacemaker,” created by James Gunn and starring John Cena, and Showtime OTT’s teenage survival series “Yellowjackets,” featuring Melanie Lynskey, Juliett Lewis and Christina Ricci, among many others.
