QVC, Home Shopping Network Bow Streaming Platform App on Vizio Smart-TVs

QVC and Home Shopping Network (HSN) have launched their free, interactive streaming shopping service on Vizio Smart-TVs — currently the first and only live-stream shopping app on Vizio that allows consumers to complete purchases within the app, while combining multiple channels of live content with video-on-demand.

The streaming app combines QVC and HSN’s five linear broadcast channels — QVC, QVC2, QVC3, HSN and HSN2, offering 50-plus hours a day of live content — with three digital-only linear channels (“In the Kitchen,” “Fashion Finds” and “Outdoor Escape”) and about 200-plus original, streaming-only show episodes, including programs “In the Spirit With Lindsay and Curtis,” with Michelin-starred-chef Curtis Stone and his wife, actress Lindsay Price-Stone, “Design School With Ballard Designs,” and “My Best Friend’s Kitchen With Gaby Dalkin,” with chef and influencer Gaby Dalkin.

“Now, Vizio users can access our live, on-demand and streaming-only content all together in one place,” David Apostolico, SVP of platform strategy, development and distribution, vCommerce Ventures, at Qurate Retail Group, said in a statement.

Chris Tanquary, senior director of business development at Vizio, contends online shopping in the home on the television is the future.

“We believe that shopping is an integral part of our daily lives, and … the addition of the QVC+ and HSN+ shopping app, Vizio users will have seamless access to a world of curated products and shopping experiences in both live and on-demand formats,” Tanquary said in a statement.

QVC, HSN Bring Home Video Shopping to Redbox Free Live TV

QVC and HSN (formally Home Shopping Network) have launched their livestream shopping channels on Redbox’s streaming app, Redbox Free Live TV.

QVC and HSN will offer Redbox’s streamers about 40 hours a day of live video e-commerce programming across both channels. This includes QVC’s “In the Kitchen With David,” which QVC reports is watched in nearly 700,000 homes per hour during each of its two editions per week, and HSN’s “Gotta See G by Giuliana Rancic,” which is watched by more than 270,000 homes per hour across the United States.

“As we continue to build our FAST service, we want to offer a variety of programming for everyone,” Phil Oppenheim, chief content officer of Chicken Soup for the Soul Entertainment, said in a statement.

QVC and HSN join more than 160 channels on Redbox Free Live TV, which is available on the web and as an app on major entertainment platforms, including Roku devices, connected TVs, gaming platforms, and iOS and Android devices. QVC and HSN will appear in the “Travel and Lifestyle” collection alongside about 12 other channels.

Soumya Sriraman Pops Up as President of Streaming for QVC, HSN Parent

Two weeks after Soumya Sriraman abruptly left her position as U.S. head of Prime Video Channels at Amazon, the home entertainment veteran has a new job: president of streaming at the Qurate Retail Group, the parent company of QVC and HSN.

In the newly created role, the company said in a press release, Sriraman will lead Qurate Retail’s streaming commerce business, including the QVC+ and HSN+ streamers as well as the company’s growing live-streaming ventures.

Sriraman spent less than two years at Amazon. Previously, she was president and CEO of BritBox, a streaming service focused on British content that is a joint venture between the BBC and ITV. She joined BritBox when it launched in the United States in 2017 and oversaw its growth to more than 1.5 million subscribers.
