Vudu Unveils Holiday Movie-Themed Gift Cards

Fandango’s transactional VOD service Vudu is introducing a series of digital and physical gift cards devoted to some of the greatest holiday movie classics, working with various studios on promoting the titles in the TVOD space. 

“Film fans on Vudu can find new releases and all of their favorite classics in one place, without having to worry about subscription fees and recurring charges,” says Fandango VP Home Entertainment Cameron Douglas. “Our new holiday movie-themed gift cards draw attention to specific film titles that are among our top sellers, and signal to all studios that Vudu is ready to partner with them on innovative marketing campaigns.”

More than 20 holiday movies on Vudu are supported with individual gift cards, including Vudu’s top-selling holiday movie titles. Vudu’s top 10 best-selling holiday movies (from Thanksgiving 2022 to date) are:

  4. National Lampoon’s Christmas Vacation
  5. Rudolph the Red-Nosed Reindeer

Vudu is also offering unique gift cards for holiday titles such as Bad Santa, A Madea Christmas, Hallmark’s Eight Gifts of Hanukkah, and Seth Rogen’s The Night Before. The holiday movie-themed cards are available in both digital and physical formats, ranging from $15 to $100, and are good for all movies in Vudu’s library of more than 200,000 titles. Vudu gift card orders for $60 or more are now available for 10% off, while supplies last.

Vudu Launches Halloween Store, Gift Cards

Fandango’s transactional VOD service Vudu has launched a Halloween Store and Halloween-themed gift cards for the season.

More than 1,000 scary movies, bundles and TV seasons are available, including this year’s top horror films Nope, Bodies Bodies Bodies, X, Orphan: First Kill, The Invitation and The Black Phone, along with a sale on catalog titles such as The Cabin in the Woods, 28 Days Later, The Omen, The Evil Dead, and the “Halloween,” “Scream” and “Saw” franchises. The Vudu Halloween Store also includes “Essential Kids’ Halloween Movies,” “Best Horror TV Shows,” “Rotten Tomatoes’ Best Horror Movies by Decade,” “Rotten Tomatoes’ Best Spanish Language Horror Movies” and more.

Vudu Bowing ‘Top Gun: Maverick’ With Gift Cards and Exclusive Clip

Fandango’s transactional service Vudu Aug. 23 debuts the Paramount Pictures blockbuster Top Gun: Maverick with themed gift cards and an exclusive behind-the-scenes clip.

Top Gun: Maverick is available to preorder now on Vudu for $19.99 in SD or in UHD/HDX. The Top Gun 2-Movie Collection, which includes the original Top Gun  (1986) and Top Gun: Maverick, is available for $29.99. 

Maverick is Vudu’s top pre-order among 2022 movies so far.

In a Fandango survey of more than 2,000 ticket-buyers, 84% of Top Gun: Maverick moviegoers said they would be interested in watching Maverick when it arrives at home.

Available now are four Top Gun: Maverick gift card designs. For a limited time, gift card orders of $60 or more get 10% off and a free Vudu rental costing up to $5. 

Vudu is also debuting an exclusive behind-the-scenes clip from Top Gun: Maverick, titled “Choreographing Flights,” which features interviews with “Top Gun: Maverick” stars Tom Cruise, Miles Teller and Glen Powell; director Joseph Kosinski; and producer Jerry Bruckheimer. The clip reveals exclusive glimpses of producer-star Tom Cruise’s three-hour briefings where he coordinated and choreographed all the flights in the movie in advance.

Vudu Offering Exclusive Clips, Gift Cards, Game Discount for ‘Rise of Gru’ Debut

Vudu is offering fans exclusive behind-the-scenes clips of Steve Carell at Vudu and as Universal and Illumination’s Minions: The Rise of Gru debuts on the transactional digital service. 

The title is available for premium digital purchase and rental.

Vudu is also providing a guide to activities, games and crafts, including activity sheets that feature instructions for making a Minions pet rock and how to create an origami ninja star, minions badges and minion popsicle stick puppets, as well as access to coloring sheets and a banana split recipe.

Vudu is also offering seven Minions: The Rise of Gru-themed gift cards.

In addition, for a limited time, consumers purchasing Minions: The Rise of Gru on Vudu will get a discount code good for 50% off the new Exploding Minions family game, the Minions-themed version of the popular Exploding Kittens, featuring new cards and illustrations. Vudu Offering Exclusive Clip and Themed Gift Cards for ‘Spider-Man: No Way Home’

Vudu is mounting an exclusive clip and offering gift cards for its top-selling pre-order title of all time, Sony Pictures’ Spider-Man: No Way Home, which arrives for digital purchase in SD, HDX and 4K UHD March 15.

The exclusive clip is titled “Getting the Spiders Together” and features never-before-seen on-set footage of Tom Holland, Andrew Garfield and Tobey Maguire with Willem Dafoe and Benedict Cumberbatch. The exclusive clip also includes commentary from Spider-Man: No Way Home director Jon Watts and producer Kevin Feige.

The Spider-Man: No Way Home Vudu gift cards feature 14 new designs.

Consumers can purchase Spider-Man: No Way Home as a standalone title at $19.99, as part of the Tom Holland “Spider-Man” three-film collection at $34.99 or as part of the “Spider-Man” eight-film bundle at $59.99.

Vudu, Olive Garden Offering ‘Dinner and a Movie to Go’ Gift Cards

Transactional digital service Vudu and Olive Garden are offering Dinner and a Movie to Go gift cards, with $25 toward home entertainment on Vudu and $25 towards Italian food to go from Olive Garden.

Dinner and a Movie to Go gift cards are currently available at Sam’s Club and H-E-B stores.

Vudu also has a line of digital gift cards, featuring characters from No Time to Die and Venom 2, available for a limited time here. Starting Nov. 24, consumers can get 20% off online gift card orders of $50 or more (excluding Dinner and a Movie to Go) through the end of the month.

Also, during Thanksgiving week, Vudu is hosting a “Watch a Movie on Us” promotion. For this week only, consumers who spend $20 towards movies and TV shows on Vudu will get a Vudu movie rental (up to $8 in value). The offer ends Nov. 29.

Vudu Offering Gift Cards, Preorder Deal on ‘Venom: Let There Be Carnage’

Vudu has a deal for customers who preorder Venom: Let There Be Carnage, arriving Nov. 23 for digital purchase at $19.99.

Those who preorder the movie on the service by Nov. 22 get a $3 Vudu promo code to use toward additional movies. Details are here. 

Vudu is also offering a line of “Venom”-themed gift cards to gift the movie to friends and family.

The Marvel Comics-based superhero film, available in SD, HDX and 4K Ultra HD on Vudu, stars Tom Hardy, Michelle Williams, Naomie Harris and Woody Harrelson. In the film, Eddie Brock (Hardy) interviews serial killer Cletus Kasady (Harrelson), who becomes the host of the symbiote Carnage.

Vudu’s YouTube channel features an exclusive clip of Hardy’s Eddie Brock and his alien symbiote Venom talking about their unique friendship on the beach.

Vudu Bows ‘No Time to Die’ Gift Cards

For the Nov. 9 premium digital rental debut of the new James Bond thriller No Time to Die, Vudu is offering customers the option of gifting the film via a No Time to Die-themed digital gift card.

The film is available on Vudu as a $19.99 premium rental. 

Vudu users can select their favorite characters and send different ones to friends and family to see the home entertainment release of Daniel Craig’s final film as 007.  The Bond-themed gift cards are available here.
