Apple Picks Up Feature ‘Causeway’ Starring Jennifer Lawrence

Apple Original Films has picked up the feature film Causeway, starring and produced by Academy Award winner Jennifer Lawrence (Don’t Look Up, Silver Linings Playbook, American Hustle), and directed by Lila Neugebauer (Broadway’s The Waverly Gallery, Maid, The Last Thing He Told Me ).

Hailing from A24, Causeway will make its global debut in theaters and on Apple TV+ later this year.

Causeway is an intimate portrait of a soldier struggling to adjust to her life after returning home to New Orleans.

Emmy and Tony Award nominee Brian Tyree Henry (“Atlanta,” Bullet Train, “If Beale Street Could Talk”) co-stars alongside Lawrence.

‘Bob’s Burgers Movie’ to Stream on HBO Max and Hulu Starting July 12

The 20th Century Studios animated film The Bob’s Burgers Movie will debut July 12 on streaming services HBO Max and Hulu.

The animated musical comedy-mystery-adventure is based on the long-running Emmy-winning series. The story begins when a ruptured water main creates an enormous sinkhole right in front of Bob’s Burgers, blocking the entrance indefinitely and ruining the Belchers’ plans for a successful summer. While Bob and Linda struggle to keep the business afloat, the kids try to solve a mystery that could save their family’s restaurant.

Voice talent includes Kristen Schaal, H. Jon Benjamin, John Roberts, Dan Mintz, Eugene Mirman, Larry Murphy, Zach Galifianakis and Kevin Kline. The film was directed by Loren Bouchard and Bernard Derriman. The screenplay is by Loren Bouchard and Nora Smith. The producers are Loren Bouchard, Nora Smith and Janelle Momary.

Netflix Creating Feature About Viral Story of Thanksgiving Text

Netflix is producing a feature film based on the true story that went viral about a Thanksgiving text between two strangers.

The film will be based on the story of Jamal Hinton and Wanda Dench, who met after Wanda accidentally texted Hinton instead of her grandson, inviting him to Thanksgiving dinner. When Hinton, a senior in high school, accepted the invitation anyway, they formed a deep friendship despite their very different backgrounds.

Dench and Hinton have spent each Thanksgiving together since 2016.

“We are excited to share our story with the world,” Dench and Hinton said in a statement. “We hope it inspires more people to reach out and make connections that they wouldn’t ordinarily make. We are so blessed to find a genuine friendship brought together by God from a mistaken text message.”

Warner Acquires Feature ‘The Fallout’ for HBO Max

Warner Bros. Pictures has acquired worldwide rights to the SXSW multiple-award-winning feature The Fallout for HBO Max.

Written and directed by Megan Park in her feature filmmaking debut, the film won the Grand Jury and Audience Awards for Narrative Feature, and Park won the Brightcove Illumination Award honoring a filmmaker on the rise at this year’s SXSW Film Festival. The film will release exclusively on HBO Max where available globally and will be distributed by Warner Bros. Pictures in the balance of international markets.

The cast includes Jenna Ortega, along with Maddie Ziegler, Niles Fitch, Will Ropp, Lumi Pollack, John Ortiz, Julie Bowen and Shailene Woodley.

The story follows high schooler Vada (Ortega) as she navigates the emotional fallout she experiences in the wake of a school tragedy. Relationships with her family and friends, as well as her view of the world, are forever altered.
