Warner Bros. Discovery’s MotorTrend Brand Adds Free Ad-Supported TV to The Roku Channel

Warner Bros. Discovery June 5 announced that it will bring its MotorTrend brand’s free ad-supported television (FAST) linear channel to The Roku Channel. The expansion is a significant step in MotorTrend’s strategy to offer automotive content to wider streaming audiences.

“Since launching seven months ago, we’ve seen over 10 million hours of ad-supported viewing across five continents, cementing MotorTrend’s mission to transform the way car fans connect with their favorite automotive programming,” Alex Wellen, CEO of MotorTrend Group, said in a statement.

Roku and MotorTrend in April announced co-production for the second season of “Kevin Hart’s Muscle Car Crew” created in partnership with Hartbeat Productions, and streaming on The Roku Channel as a Roku and MotorTrend Original series.

“Given the popularity of the automotive content previously distributed with MotorTrend, Roku is [eager] to bring our millions of streamers access to additional premium automotive content,” said Jennifer Vaux, VP of content acquisition and programming at Roku.

Additionally, the new FAST distribution deal strengthens the long-standing partnership between MotorTrend Group and Roku, in which 7,000 episodes of MotorTrend content can be viewed ad-free through MotorTrend+ on the Roku platform, and on the MotorTrend channel with a MotorTrend Roku Premium Subscription.

MotorTrend FAST TV is also available on Amazon Freevee, Samsung TV Plus, Vizio WatchFree+, Xumo, and Plex, the latter providing international distribution. The FAST channel is also available on MotorTrend.com and MotorTrend+ as an owned-and-operated channel.

MotorTrend Expands International FAST Channel Access

Warner Bros. Discovery March 8 announced that its MotorTrend Group brand’s MotorTrend FAST TV will now be available on the free global streaming media app Plex in India, Australia, New Zealand, South Africa and the U.K., in addition to the U.S. and Canada. This marks the first international launch into overseas markets for ad-supported MotorTrend FAST TV as part of the next phase of expanded distribution.

Plex users can stream MotorTrend FAST TV on almost any device including Apple and Android mobile phones and tablets, smart-TVs and gaming consoles, without a subscription.

“The ease of non-subscription streaming and our fun and informative shows celebrating car culture are universally engaging,” Mark Jocson, head of distribution at MotorTrend Group, said in a statement. “Free ad-supported streaming TV success across North America has shown us that our automotive content is resonating with fans, and we’re confident international audiences are going to love it, too.”

MotorTrend FAST TV, streams the brand’s most popular shows such as “Roadkill,” “Bitchin’ Rides” and “Texas Metal,” among others. Weekend content also features the spinoff series “Faster With Finnegan.”

The FAST channel is also available on Amazon Freevee, Samsung TV Plus, Vizio and Xumo.
