‘The Bad Guys’ Headed to Digital, 4K Ultra HD, Blu-ray and DVD June 21

DreamWorks Animation’s The Bad Guys will be released for digital purchase and on 4K Ultra HD, Blu-ray and DVD June 21 from Universal Pictures Home Entertainment. 

Based on the Scholastic children’s graphic novels, the film follows five infamous friends — Mr. Wolf, Mr. Snake, Mr. Piranha, Mr. Shark and Ms. Tarantula. After years of countless heists and being the world’s most-wanted villains, the gang is finally caught. Mr. Wolf brokers a deal to keep them out of prison and the Bad Guys set out to fool the world into believing they’ve gone good.

The voice cast includes Academy Award winner Sam Rockwell (Three Billboards Outside Ebbing, Missouri), Marc Maron (“Glow”), Craig Robinson (“Hot Tub Time Machine” franchise), Anthony Ramos (In the Heights), and Awkwafina (Crazy Rich Asians) as the bad guys, alongside co-stars Zazie Beetz (Joker), Lily Singh (Bad Moms), Emmy winner Alex Borstein (“The Marvelous Mrs. Maisel”), and Richard Ayoade (Paddington 2).

The Bad Guys  collector’s edition extras include a new original short, deleted scenes, interviews with cast and crew, Mr. Snake’s frozen pops recipes, character drawing tutorials, feature commentary with filmmakers, and more.

‘Sonic 2’ Headed to Digital and Paramount+ May 24, Disc Aug. 9

Paramount Pictures’ Sonic the Hedgehog 2 will be available on Paramount+ and digital May 24, and on 4K Ultra HD, Blu-ray and DVD Aug. 9 from Paramount Home Entertainment.

In addition, Sonic 2 and the original Sonic the Hedgehog will be available in a two-movie collection on digital or Blu-ray.

In the sequel, after settling in Green Hills, Sonic (voice of Ben Schwartz) is eager to prove he has what it takes to be a true hero. His test comes when Dr. Robotnik (Jim Carrey) returns, this time with a new partner, Knuckles (Idris Elba), in search of an emerald that has the power to destroy civilizations. Sonic teams up with his own sidekick, Tails (Colleen O’Shaughnessey), and together they embark on a globe-trotting journey to find the emerald before it falls into the wrong hands.

The film also stars James Marsden, Tika Sumpter, Natasha Rothwell, Adam Pally, Shemar Moore and Lee Majdoub.

‘Turning Red’ to Debut on Digital April 26, Disc May 3

Disney and Pixar’s animated Turning Red will be available for digital purchase April 26, and on 4K Ultra HD, Blu-ray and DVD May 3 from Disney Media & Entertainment Distribution.

In the film, confident, dorky 13-year-old Mei (voice of Rosalie Chiang) must balance being a dutiful daughter with the chaos of adolescence. Her slightly overbearing mom (voice of Sandra Oh) is never far from her daughter. And, as if changes to Mei’s interests, relationships and body aren’t enough, whenever she gets too excited, she “poofs” into a giant red panda.

Barbie: Big City, Big Dreams takes the cultural icon across the country to New York City as Barbie enrolls in a highly competitive summer program at the Handler School for Performing Arts where she meets a fellow student named Barbie Roberts. They become fast friends and quickly adopt nicknames inspired by their beloved hometowns, Malibu and Brooklyn, for their many new friends to distinguish them when together. The film includes all-new music.

Produced by Warner Bros. Animation, King Tweety finds Tweety, Sylvester and Granny jet-setting to the Canary Islands where Tweety learns he’s a royal descendant and the next in line to the throne. The family adventure Jurassic Tale will be released on digital and on demand May 31 from Lionsgate.

In the film, while spending summer break at their father’s house, Emma and Brian find a huge egg in a cave nearby. It hatches to reveal a baby T. Rex, who they name Caesar.

But their discovery is tracked by the sinister Kraven, a dealer in rare animals who steals the poor, hungry creature. Together with their reunited parents, Emma and Brian must sneak into Kraven’s lab and rescue Caesar before he’s sold to an overseas buyer.

‘Clifford the Big Red Dog’ to Be Unleashed on Digital Dec. 14, Disc Feb. 1

The family film Clifford the Big Red Dog will be available to purchase on digital Dec. 14 and on Blu-ray and DVD Feb. 1 from Paramount Home Entertainment. 

In the film based on the book series, when Emily discovers her little red puppy named Clifford has grown to 10-foot-tall overnight, she turns to her eccentric Uncle Casey for help. But when a mad scientist tries to capture the larger-than-life pup, it takes the entire neighborhood to hide Clifford as they race across the city.

In the film from the director of A Dog’s Way Home and Dolphin Tale, for James (Luke Treadaway), a struggling street musician, a very special gift arrives in the form of Bob, a strong-willed stray cat who wanders into James’s tiny flat. Bob enriches James’s life, giving him companionship, purpose, and a large, new audience. When Animal Welfare officers threaten to take Bob, the local community rallies to help James and Bob — sparking a journey that takes the pair to places they never imagined.

Lionsgate Serving Up Disc of Bill Murray Movie ‘On the Rocks’ Oct. 26

Lionsgate will release the film On the Rocks on Blu-ray and DVD Oct. 26.

Written and directed by Sofia Coppola (Lost in Translation, Somewhere, The Beguiled), the film stars Bill Murray, Rashida Jones and Marlon Wayans. In the film, Laura (Jones) thinks she’s happily hitched, but when her husband Dean (Wayans) starts logging late hours at the office with a new coworker, Laura begins to fear the worst. She turns to the one man she suspects may have insight: her charming, impulsive father Felix (Murray), who insists they investigate the situation. As the two begin prowling New York at night, careening from uptown parties to downtown hotspots, they discover at the heart of their journey lies their own relationship.

On the Rocks was released via the Apple TV+ streaming service last year.
