Great American Pure Flix to Stream Second Season of ‘Going Home’ Starting Jan. 5

Faith- and family-streaming service Great American Pure Flix has announced the second season of the television series “Going Home.” New episodes will premiere each Friday Jan. 5 through Feb. 9.

The first season of “Going Home” premiered on Great American Pure Flix in June 2022. Creator Dan Merchant returns as the Affirm originals series’ showrunner and lead director. Cynthia Geary once again stars as Charley Copeland, a hospice nurse who sees her role as a calling from God to help shepherd people from this life to eternity.

“This is one of my favorite and most meaningful roles,” Geary said in a statement. “I can’t wait for ‘Going Home’ fans to experience this new season filled with stories of compassion and forgiveness.”

In addition to Geary, the show also stars Cozi Zuehlesdorff, Aviona Rodriguez Brown, Steve LloydChristopher WiehlElly SimsTrent Sims and Matt Davidson.

Season 2 guest stars include Karen Allen (Raiders of the Lost Ark), Mel Harris (“Thirtysomething”), Ellen Travolta (“Charles in Charge”), Gloria Reuben (Lincoln), George Newbern (Father of the Bride) and Cayden Boyd (The Adventures of Sharkboy and Lavagirl).

“We loved hearing how the show touched people’s hearts in our first season,” Merchant said in a statement. “In this new season, things get more personal for Charley and the other hospice nurses. We think the audience will be touched as Charley explores GriefShare with Alec to help manage the loss of his wife as well as a loss Charley doesn’t realize she’s still grieving. Janey grows into her own as an excellent nurse only to find things complicated by a new love interest, and Tamara manages serious health issues even as her strength and grace bolster Sunset House.”

Merchant turned to GriefShare, a global Christian grief-support group, for support after the loss of his father.

Mill Creek to Bow Comedy ‘Divine Influencer’ on DVD and Digital Dec. 12

Mill Creek Entertainment will release the faith-based family comedy Divine Influencer on digital and DVD Dec. 12.

The film follows a wealthy twentysomething influencer who has it all, but loses everything when her parents cut her off. Homeless, she soon learns the meaning of true influence.

Divine Influencer stars Jesse Metcalfe, Lara Silva and Debra Stipe.

Faith-Based Drama ‘I Can’ Due on DVD and Digital Dec. 12 From Mill Creek

The faith-based drama I Can will be released on DVD and digital Dec. 12 from Mill Creek Entertainment.

Based on a true story, the film chronicles a couple’s adulterous affair, which leads to an unexpected pregnancy. They leave their spouses to begin a new life together, but their daughter Katelyn is born with a birth defect. While her dad believes Katelyn’s condition is God’s punishment for the affair, Katelyn, with only one fully developed arm, defies all odds with an incredible gift for softball. I Can is a story about Katelyn overcoming adversity and her dad eventually finding genuine forgiveness.

The film stars Daniel Roebuck (Final Destination, U.S. Marshals, The Fugitive), Vernon Wells (Weird Science, Commando, The Road Warrior), Cameron Arnett (Saved by Grace, Being, Star Trek: The Next Generation) and Sarah Cleveland (A Father’s Fight, My Husband’s Worst Mistake, End of the Road).

Mill Creek Bows ‘The Apostle’/’At Play in the Fields of the Lord’ Faith Double Feature DVD

Mill Creek Entertainment will release a DVD double feature of the faith-based films The Apostle and At Play in the Fields of the Lord on Sept. 26.

In The Apostle (1997), Robert Duvall (The Godfather, Deep Impact, Apocalypse Now) is Sonny, a gifted preacher loved by his community. When Sonny loses control and commits a crime of passion, he is forced to run from the law. Hiding out in the small town of Bayou Boutte, he sets out on a new mission: redemption.

In At Play in the Fields of the Lord (1991), Martin and Hazel Quarrier are missionaries sent to the jungles of South America to convert the Indians. The film stars John Lithgow (“3rd Rock from the Sun,” “Dexter,” Pet Sematary 2019), Tom Berenger (Inception, Major League, Platoon), Kathy Bates (Fried Green Tomatoes, Titanic, Misery) and Daryl Hannah.

Mill Creek Bowing Faith Film ‘Southern Gospel’ on DVD June 13

Mill Creek Entertainment will release Bridgestone Multimedia Group’s faith-based drama Southern Gospel on DVD June 13.

In the film, Samuel Allen, a 1960s rock and roller, finds himself in jail after years of anger and blame toward organized religion have led him down a road of rebellion. In a moment of divine intervention, a judge dismisses drug charges against him under the pretense that Samuel speaks to local schools and churches about the dangers of drugs. Given a second chance, he follows in his father’s footsteps, overcoming the influence of a powerful church leader with a personal vendetta against his family, to find a higher calling. Samuel’s desire to use his talents to share a message of forgiveness is a challenge at every turn.

The film stars Emmy winner Max Ehrich (“The Young and the Restless,” “Under the Dome”), Katelyn Nacon (“The Walking Dead,” “Resurrection”), J. Alphonse Nicholson (“P Valley,” Just Mercy), Emma Myers (“Wednesday,” A Taste of Christmas), Gary Weeks (“Outer Banks,” “The Walking Dead”), and is directed by Jeffrey A. Smith in his directorial debut.

Southern Gospel’s limited theatrical opening on March 10 garnered a 100% Rotten Tomatoes Tomatometer Score, according to Mill Creek.


FilmRise Launches Free ‘Faith and Inspiration’ Streaming App

FilmRise, the New York-based film and television studio and streaming network, April 7 announced the launch of a new free app, FilmRise Faith and Inspiration. The app enables users to stream hundreds of hours of free faith-affirming series, holiday hits, inspirational movies and family content. The app is available on Roku, Amazon Fire TV, Samsung Smart TVs and LG Channels.

The platform features several page-to-screen adaptations directly from the Bible. It also includes the animated film Pilgrim’s Progress, the sweeping tale of a pilgrim and his burden. Pilgrim’s Progress is based on John Bunyan’s book and features Jonathan Rhys Davies of Lord of the Rings.

In addition, the app includes a selection of coming-of-age stories that appeal to all ages, including Shirley Temple in The Little Princess, based on the novel by Francis Hodgson Burnett, about one girl’s resiliency. Viewers can also access the classic tale Heidi (1968), starring Jennifer Edwards as the titular strong-willed orphan.

The Faith and Inspiration app also offers classic animated series, including “Rupert” and “Babar,” as well as films Where The Red Fern Grows and Finding Rin Tin Tin. In addition, viewers can explore true faith stories such as the Torchlighters films and Biblical tales in “The Animated Bible Series.”

Finally, the app features a selection of modern-day secular titles, including Kate Hudson in A Little Bit of Heaven. The film features an all-star cast, including Kathy BatesGael Garcia Bernal and Whoopi Goldberg. Other titles include Canadian family drama “Heartland,” faith drama “Highway to Heaven,” starring Michael Landon, and 1950s Western series “The Roy Rogers Show.”

Faith Film ‘Jesus Revolution’ Arrives on DVD and Blu-ray Disc April 25 From Lionsgate

The faith-based film Jesus Revolution will be released on Blu-ray combo pack (plus digital and DVD) and DVD April 25 from Lionsgate.

Directed by Jon Erwin (American Underdog, The Jesus Music) and Brent McCorkle (Unconditional, TV’s “BBQuest”) and written for the screen by Jon Gunn (American Underdog, I Still Believe) and Jon Erwin, Jesus Revolution tells the story of a community coming together, leading to unexpected joy. 

In the film set in the 1970s, young Greg Laurie (Joel Courtney) is searching for all the right things in all the wrong places — until he meets Lonnie Frisbee (Jonathan Roumie), a charismatic hippie street preacher. Together with Pastor Chuck Smith (Kelsey Grammer), they open the doors of Smith’s languishing church to an unexpected revival of radical and newfound love, leading to what Time magazine dubbed a “Jesus Revolution.”

In the film, in the wake of the sudden disappearance of millions of people around the world, the prophesied “Great Tribulation” has begun. A charming new leader rises to the head of the United Nations, but does he bring hope for a better future or is it the end of the world? As the Antichrist spreads his web of lies, everyone must choose a side.

Directed by and starring Kevin Sorbo, the film also stars Corbin Bernsen, Mark Bellamy, Mary Armstrong and Neal McDonough.

Faith-Based Film ‘Heaven Sent’ Headed to DVD and Digital May 9 From Mill Creek

Mill Creek Entertainment will release Pinnacle Peak Pictures’ faith-based film Heaven Sent on DVD and digital May 9.

It follows Elise, an active and outgoing grandmother hurt by her past, and Patrick, a widowed pastor, who have both closed the door on love. But after a chance encounter, with faith and a little help from technology, their live-streamed romance might find a way.

The film was directed by Joanne Hock (When We Last Spoke, Purple Dreams) and was written by, produced by and stars Karen Abercrombie (War Room, Selfie Dad). It also stars Leon Pridgen (War Room, Pursuit of Freedom), Charlene Tilton (“Dallas,” “The Middle”) and Jemarcus Kilgore (Discarded Things, Black Lightning).

Faith-Based Family Drama ‘An Unlikely Angel’ Due on Digital and DVD March 21 From Mill Creek

The faith-based family drama An Unlikely Angel is headed to digital and DVD March 21 from Pinnacle Peak Pictures and Mill Creek Entertainment.

The film follows Janie Caswell, successful, married and very pregnant, who is about to have it all — career, family, success — when she is blindsided by a vehicle and wakes up six years in the future where “having it all” is not what she expected. Will the chance meeting with an angel be an answer to her prayers?

An Unlikely Angel stars Jillian Murray (Code Black, Cabin Fever 3: Patient Zero), Sam J. Jones (Ted, Flash Gordon) and Aaron Mees (All Is Calm, Christmas in the Pines) and is directed by Durrell Nelson. 

The film spent two months as the No. 1 film on PureFlix after its initial launch.
