Third ‘Escape Plan’ Tops Redbox Rental and Digital Charts

Lionsgate’s Escape Plan: The Extractors debuted at No. 1 on Redbox’s disc rental and on demand charts the week ended July 7.

The direct-to-video film is the third installment in the “Escape Plan” franchise and stars Sylvester Stallone, Dave Bautista and Curtis “50 Cent” Jackson in the story of a security team’s attempt to rescue a tech mogul’s daughter from a formidable prison.

The Redbox disc rental chart tracks DVD and Blu-ray Disc rentals at the company’s more than 40,000 red kiosks.

Disney’s live-action Dumbo remake moved up three spots to No. 2 on the kiosk chart, while Captain Marvel, also from Disney, slipped to No. 3 after three weeks in the top spot.

The horror film Us, from Universal Pictures, dropped to No. 4, while The Best of Enemies, from Universal and STX, debuted at No. 5.

Best of Enemies debuted at No. 2 on the Redbox On Demand chart, which tracks digital transactions, including both electronic sellthrough and streaming rentals.

Us slipped to No. 3, while The Upside, from STX and Universal Pictures, dropped to No. 4, and Warner’s Isn’t It Romantic took No. 5.

The theatrical release of Spider-Man: Far From Home helped bring 2017’s Spider-Man: Homecoming, from Sony Pictures and Marvel Studios, up to No. 10 on the on demand chart.
