Merchandising: ‘E.T.’ 4K Exclusives Land at Retail

Universal released its 40th anniversary 4K Ultra HD edition of E.T. — The Extra-Terrestrial Oct. 18, with three retailers offering exclusive versions of the title.

Amazon.com had the 4K combo pack in a gift set that included a collectible 1980s-style metal lunchbox with thermos, plus a booklet and certificate of authenticity for $64.99.

Walmart.com offered the 4K combo pack with an E.T. BendyFigs doll for $34.96.

Target offered the 4K combo pack in Steelbook packaging with unique artwork for $24.99.

Sony Pictures Home Entertainment released Bullet Train on Blu-ray and DVD Oct. 18, but exclusives were relatively light. Walmart had a copy of the 4K Ultra HD Blu-ray combo pack with exclusive slipcover box art for $27.96.

Sony also released the Bullet Train 4K disc in Steelbook packaging, but rather than make it a Best Buy exclusive, the Steelbook was widely released.

Best Buy did have an exclusive in the form of Lionsgate’s 2008 action thriller Punisher: War Zone on 4K Ultra HD (plus Blu-ray and digital) in Steelbook packaging for $21.99.
