‘The Bad Guys’ Headed to Digital, 4K Ultra HD, Blu-ray and DVD June 21

DreamWorks Animation’s The Bad Guys will be released for digital purchase and on 4K Ultra HD, Blu-ray and DVD June 21 from Universal Pictures Home Entertainment. 

Based on the Scholastic children’s graphic novels, the film follows five infamous friends — Mr. Wolf, Mr. Snake, Mr. Piranha, Mr. Shark and Ms. Tarantula. After years of countless heists and being the world’s most-wanted villains, the gang is finally caught. Mr. Wolf brokers a deal to keep them out of prison and the Bad Guys set out to fool the world into believing they’ve gone good.

The voice cast includes Academy Award winner Sam Rockwell (Three Billboards Outside Ebbing, Missouri), Marc Maron (“Glow”), Craig Robinson (“Hot Tub Time Machine” franchise), Anthony Ramos (In the Heights), and Awkwafina (Crazy Rich Asians) as the bad guys, alongside co-stars Zazie Beetz (Joker), Lily Singh (Bad Moms), Emmy winner Alex Borstein (“The Marvelous Mrs. Maisel”), and Richard Ayoade (Paddington 2).

The Bad Guys  collector’s edition extras include a new original short, deleted scenes, interviews with cast and crew, Mr. Snake’s frozen pops recipes, character drawing tutorials, feature commentary with filmmakers, and more.

Apple TV+ to Bow Animated Kids Series ‘Pinecone & Pony’ April 8

Apple TV+ will bow the new animated series “Pinecone & Pony” April 8.

Based on the book The Princess and the Pony by New York Times best-selling author Kate Beaton, the series comes from DreamWorks Animation and First Generation Films.

“Pinecone & Pony” is an eight-episode animated comedy for kids and families about a young girl named Pinecone who, with the help of her best friend Pony, is learning that there’s more than one way to be a warrior. Together, they show their world how to challenge expectations.

‘The Boss Baby: Family Business’ Due on Digital Aug. 31, Disc Sept. 14

DreamWorks Animation’s The Boss Baby: Family Business will be available for digital purchase Aug. 31, and on 4K Ultra HD, Blu-ray and DVD Sept. 14 from Universal Pictures Home Entertainment.

The sequel welcomes back the Templeton brothers — Tim (voice of James Marsden) and his Boss Baby little bro Ted (Alec Baldwin) — who have become adults and drifted away from each other. Enter new boss baby Tina (Amy Sedaris) determined to bring them together again and inspire a new family business.

The voice cast also includes James Marsden, Ariana Greenblatt, Jeff Goldblum, Eva Longoria, James McGrath, Jimmy Kimmel and Lisa Kudrow.

DreamWorks Animation’s ‘Spirit Untamed’ Due on Digital Aug. 17, Disc Aug. 31 From Universal

The animated family film Spirit Untamed will come out on digital Aug. 17, and on Blu-ray and DVD Aug. 31 from Universal Pictures Home Entertainment and DreamWorks Animation.

Spirit Untamed follows free-spirited Lucky Prescott, who moves to Miradero to join her estranged father. She is decidedly unimpressed with the sleepy town until she discovers a unique tie to her late mother who was a fearless horse-riding stunt performer. She quickly forms a bond with a wild mustang named Spirit and makes two new pals who love horses as much as she does. When a heartless wrangler plans to capture Spirit and his herd, Lucky and her friends set off on an epic journey to rescue the horse who has given her an unbreakable connection to her mother’s legacy.

The film features the voices of Isabela Merced (Dora and the Lost City of Gold),  Marsai Martin (Little), Mckenna Grace (Captain Marvel), Walton Goggins (“Justified”), Andre Braugher (“Brooklyn Nine-Nine”), Eiza González (Fast & Furious Presents: Hobbs and Shaw), with Julianne Moore (Kingsman: The Golden Circle)  and Jake Gyllenhaal (Spider-Man: Far From Home).

The film’s score and original song “Fearless” is by composer Amie Doherty (Marooned).

The release features more than an hour of bonus content, including deleted scenes; multiple at-home activities, including how to make your own “campfire” indoors; cast interviews; feature commentary by the director; and sing-alongs.

Universal to Bow Five Multi-Disc Collections Sept. 29

Universal Pictures Home Entertainment is releasing five multiple-title disc collections Sept. 29.

The “Focus Features: 10-Movie Spotlight Collection,” coming on Blu-ray, features films that earned seven Academy Awards and 11 Golden Globes. The set includes Lost in Translation, Eternal Sunshine of the Spotless Mind, Pride & Prejudice, Brokeback Mountain, Atonement, Burn After Reading, Moonrise Kingdom, The Theory of Everything, On the Basis of Sex and Harriet.

The “Blumhouse of Horrors: 10-Movie Collection,” coming on Blu-ray and DVD, includes Get Out, The Purge, Ouija, Split, The Visit, Unfriended, Truth or Dare, The Boy Next Door, Happy Death Day and Ma.

The “Alfred Hitchcock Classics Collection,” on 4K Ultra HD combo pack, features four iconic films from the acclaimed director, Rear Window, Vertigo, Psycho and The Birds, and comes in Discbook packaging.

The “DreamWorks 10-Movie Collection,” due on Blu-ray and DVD, includes Shrek, Madagascar, Home, Spirit: Stallion of Cimarron, How to Train your Dragon, The Croods, Kung Fu Panda, Boss Baby, Abominable and Trolls.

Finally, the “Illumination Presents 10-Movie Collection,” coming on Blu-ray and DVD, features all three Despicable Me films, The Secret life of Pets 1 and 2, Hop, Minions, Sing, Dr. Seuss’ The Lorax and Dr. Seuss’ The Grinch.

‘Trolls World Tour’ to Debut on Digital June 23, Disc — Including 4K — July 7 From Universal

DreamWorks Animation’s Trolls World Tour will debut on digital June 23, and on 4K Ultra HD, Blu-ray and DVD July 7 from Universal Pictures Home Entertainment.

The “Dance Party Edition” includes an interactive dance party mode in which viewers are introduced to dance moves to learn while they watch the film, lyrics to sing along, and surprises featuring the characters. This Dance Party Edition also includes bonus content, such as an exclusive original short film starring the Tiny Diamond, deleted scenes and behind-the-scenes exclusives with the musical cast of Anna Kendrick, Justin Timberlake, Kelly Clarkson, Mary J. Blige, George Clinton and more.

Queen Poppy (Kendrick), Branch (Timberlake), and the rest of the trolls are back for another musical adventure  in Trolls World Tour. Poppy and Branch discover that their kingdom is only one of six musical realms — Funk, Country, Techno, Classical, Pop, and Rock — that were once united in perfect harmony. FandangoNow Offering Digital Rental Preorders on ‘Trolls World Tour’ With Additional Discount on Other DreamWorks Titles

FandangoNow, the transactional video-on-demand service from Fandango, is for the first time offering preorders for digital rental of Trolls World Tour, debuting digitally April 10.

Also, those who preorder the rental of the film can rent or buy a number of DreamWorks Animation films available on FandangoNow at 50% off the regular price, including the original Trolls. The preorder offer is valid until April 9, and those who preorder the title can enjoy the DreamWorks Animation film discounts through April 17.
