Dolly Parton, Garth Brooks to Host 58th Academy of Country Music Awards Streaming Exclusively on Prime Video May 11

The Academy of Country Music, Prime Video, and Dick Clark Productions March 29 announced that Dolly Parton and Garth Brooks will host the 58th Academy of Country Music Awards on May 11 at 8 p.m. ET/7 p.m. CT/5 p.m. PT, and streaming live exclusively on Prime Video from Ford Center at The Star in Frisco, Texas. The event will not be televised.

The annual event honors country music’s biggest stars and emerging talent. The full rebroadcast of the ceremony and performances will stream the next day for free on ad-supported Amazon Freevee.

The event marks the first time Brooks will take the stage to host an awards show, coming ahead of his Las Vegas residency and off the heels of his world tour, which sold more than 6.3 million tickets, making it the biggest North American tour in history. It’s the second consecutive year that the show will be hosted by Parton and follows her recent induction into the Rock & Roll Hall of Fame.

“Anyone with Dolly Parton makes a fantastic couple,” Brooks said in a statement.

Established in 1966, the Academy of Country Music Awards is the longest-running country music awards show and made history in 2022 as the first major awards ceremony to exclusively livestream, in partnership with Prime Video. This year’s show marks its return to Texas since the landmark 50th ACM Awards, which broke a Guinness World Record in 2015 for being the most-attended awards show with more than 70,000 attendees at AT&T Stadium in Arlington.

“As we bring back the Emmy-nominated Academy of Country Music Awards to our global audience, we are thrilled to continue to showcase an unforgettable night of live entertainment experiences with Dolly and Garth at the helm of ‘Country Music’s Party of the Year,'” added Jennifer Salke, head of Amazon Studios.

The 58th ACM Awards nominees, performers, and presenters for this year’s show will be announced in the coming weeks.

‘Seriously Red’ Headed to Blu-ray, DVD and On Demand March 21

The dramatic comedy Seriously Red arrives on Blu-ray (plus digital), DVD and on demand from Lionsgate March 21.

Written by the film’s star Krew Boylan, Seriously Red is a celebration of various 1970s country music artists including Dolly Parton and Kenny Rogers. It also features popular Dolly songs such as “Jolene” and “I Will Always Love You.”

In the film, Red (Boylan) has lost her job as a real estate agent, but there’s something no one can take away from her: her dream of becoming the world’s greatest Dolly Parton impersonator. After her act attracts the attentions of an amorous Elvis impersonator (Rose Byrne) and a powerful booking agent (Bobby Cannavale), Red is catapulted into the top tier of copycat acts, becoming the onstage and romantic partner of the top Kenny Rogers impersonator. But when Red’s life as an imitator starts to feel false, she discovers true happiness comes when you’re being the best version of yourself.

Special features include audio commentary with director Gracie Otto.

American Greetings, Dolly Parton Partner for Digital Birthday Cards

American Greetings has launched a line of electronic birthday cards featuring Dolly Parton singing her “9 to 5” hit song through the company’s SmashUps digital initiative that includes 1,200 different name options.

Earlier this year American Greetings announced a multiyear partnership with Parton that includes digital and physical products integrating the singer-songwriter’s music in unique ways.

“We felt that the Country Music Hall of Fame theater was the perfect venue for Dolly to deliver an extra special birthday wish and it made a great backdrop for her incredible talent,” Rob Matousek, executive director/GM – direct-to-consumer business at American Greetings, said in a statement. “She makes everything sparkle and hearing her say your name and seeing your name in lights next to Dolly on stage is sure to be magical for lucky recipients.”

Parton said that with the coronavirus pandemic limiting social gatherings such as birthdays, electronic greetings can fill the void.

“God made us all unique in our own ways, and I love the fact that I was able to offer something special for everyone,” said the 74-year-old icon.

American Greetings will debut a line of Dolly Parton greeting cards at Walmart later this summer. SmashUps are available on www.americangreetings.com, www.bluemountain.com, and on the SmashUps apps available for iPhone and Android.
