David Bowie Doc ‘Moonage Daydream’ Headed to Blu-ray and DVD Nov. 15

Moonage Daydream, Neon and Decal Releasing’s documentary on global superstar David Bowie, will be released on Blu-ray and DVD Nov. 15 from Distribution Solutions, a division of Alliance Entertainment.

Moonage Daydream illuminates the life and genius of the late Bowie, one of the most influential artists of our time. Featuring never-before-seen footage, this cinematic odyssey explores the creative, musical and spiritual journey of Bowie. 

Written and directed by Brett Morgen (Cobain: Montage of Heck, 30 for 30), the documentary on the global superstar highlights footage and performances spanning Bowie’s 54-year career, including “The Jean Genie,” “Aladdin Sane,” “Space Oddity,” “Heroes,” “Let’s Dance,” “Modern Love,” “Young Americans,” “Changes” and many more.

The film is the first and only documentary done on Bowie in conjunction with the Bowie Estate, giving viewers a more intimate look into the man who captivated fans across the globe.

 

William Castle, Samuel Fuller and Hammer Collections Headed to DVD Sept. 27 From Mill Creek

Three collections of classic films — the William Castle Adventures Collection, the Samuel Fuller Collection and the Hammer Films 12-Movie Collection — are being released on DVD Sept. 27 from Mill Creek Entertainment and Distribution Solutions.

The William Castle Adventures Collection includes four 1950s titles from director William Castle: Serpent of the Nile (1953), about the romance of Antony and Cleopatra; Charge of the Lancers (1954), set during the Crimean war and starring Paulette Goddard; The Iron Glove (1954), a story about the English throne starring Robert Stack; and The Saracen Blade (1954), set in 15th century Italy and starring Ricardo Montalban.

The Samuel Fuller Collection includes Power of the Press (1943), about the murder of a newspaper publisher during World War II (written by Fuller); Scandal Sheet (1952), about a murderous newspaper editor (based on a novel by Fuller); The Crimson Kimono (1959), about two detectives seeking a stripper’s killer in the Japanese quarter of Los Angeles (written and directed by Fuller); and Underworld U.S.A. (1961), about a teenager who vows revenge against the mobsters that murdered his father (written and directed by Fuller).

The Hammer Films 12-Movie Collection includes a dozen classic horror films: The Revenge of Frankenstein (1958), The Two Faces of Dr. Jekyll (1960), The Gorgon (1964), The Snorkel (1958), Never Take Candy From a Stranger (1960), The Old Dark House (1963), Scream of Fear (1961), Stop Me Before I Kill! (1961), Die! Die! My Darling (1965), The Stranglers of Bombay (1960), The Terror of the Tongs (1961) and The Pirates of Blood River (1962).

Bruce Willis Crime Thriller ‘Wrong Place’ Headed to DVD and Blu-ray Sept. 20

The crime thriller Wrong Place, starring Bruce Willis, will be released on DVD and Blu-ray Disc Sept. 20 from Vertical Entertainment and Distribution Solutions.

In the film, Frank, a former police chief, is hunted down by a meth kingpin seeking to silence him before he can deliver eyewitness testimony against his family. Ultimately, the kingpin finds himself up against more than he thought when he threatens to harm Frank’s daughter.

In addition to Willis (Die Hard, Armageddon), the film stars Ashley Greene (the “Twilight” saga, Bombshell), Texas Battle (Final Destination 3, Coach Carter) and Michael Sirow (Survive the Game, Fortress), and is directed by Mike Burns.

Horror Film ‘He’s Watching’ Headed to DVD Sept. 13 From Decal and Distribution Solutions

The horror film He’s Watching will be released on DVD Sept. 13 from Decal and Distribution Solutions.

In the film, a brother and sister play pranks on each other when they are left alone while their parents are in the hospital suffering from a mystery illness that only seems to affect adults. The game becomes a nightmare when they discover a presence watching them that wants to play, too.

The siblings team up to discover what the presence is and how to escape it.

The film stars Gerald Davis, Iris Serena Estes and Jacob Estes.

‘Kingdom of the Dinosaurs’ Due on DVD Sept. 6 From Uncork’d and Distribution Solutions

The action adventure Kingdom of the Dinosaurs is being released on DVD Sept. 6 from Uncork’d Entertainment and Distribution Solutions. 

In the film set in 2030 during World War III, a small group of survivors make it into a bunker. Two years later they have to exit to find new supplies, but they are greeted by dinosaur predators.

Directed by Scott Jeffrey, the film stars Mark Haldor, Darcie Rose, Chelsea Greenwood, Chrissie Wunna, Stephen Staley and Clint Gordon.

Romance ‘Mr. Malcolm’s List’ Due on Blu-ray and DVD Aug. 23 From Distribution Solutions

Decal/Bleecker’s romance Mr. Malcolm’s List will be released on DVD and Blu-ray Disc from Distribution Solutions.

Based on the novel of the same name, the film, set in 19th century England, follows a wealthy young lady named Julia who engages in courtship with Mr. Malcolm, a mysterious, wealthy suitor. But she is unaware that he has a list of qualities required of a future wife.

Mr. Malcolm’s List stars Feida Pinto, Sope Dirisu, Oliver Jackson-Cohen and Ashley Park.

Archstone’s ‘The Legend of Hawes’ Due on Digital Sept. 13 From Distribution Solutions

Archstone’s horror-in-the-Old-West title The Legend of Hawes will be released for digital purchase Sept. 13 from Distribution Solutions, a division of Alliance Entertainment.

In the film, a mountain homestead is attacked by a raiding party made up of ravenous marauders. The lone survivor, a beautiful young woman, hires a dangerous gunman to help her track and exact revenge on the marauders. Together they trek to a forbidding mountain only to find that the savage marauders have a deadly secret.

Mutiny Pictures’ Swedish psychological thriller Mareld will be released on digital Aug. 9 from Mill Creek Entertainment.

In the story, a film crew sets sail on a catamaran to film a horror film where the scenes are improvised in chronological order, keeping the cast in the dark about the story. But what happens behind the scenes may be the real horror.

Director Ove Valeskog mixes documentary style with narrative film, blending lush cinematography with behind-the-scenes documentary film and blurring the boundary between fiction and reality.

David Cronenberg’s Crimes of the Future will be released on Blu-ray and DVD Aug. 9 from Neon, Decal and Distribution Solutions, a division of Alliance Entertainment. 

In the sci-fi thriller, a performance artist — who turns the removal of organs into real-time theater — is forced to consider the most shocking performance of all as the government and a strange subculture take note of his act. 

Written and directed by Cronenberg (The Fly, A History of Violence), the film marks his directorial return to the science-fiction and horror genres for the first time since the 1990s.
