Netflix has hired former PayPal chief accounting officer Jeffrey Karbowski to the same position, effective Feb. 13, according to a regulatory filing. Karbowski replaces former CAO Ken Barker, who departed Netflix last October after three months on the job for personal reasons. Karbowski reports to Spencer Neumann, Netflix’s CFO, in Los Gatos, Calif.
Karbowski, 45, will receive an annual base salary of $2 million, a one-time signing bonus of $400,000 and a $1 million annual stock option allowance pursuant to Netflix’s stock option program.
Karbowski has been at San Jose-based PayPal since May 2013, most recently as the VP, chief accounting officer since August 2020, the VP, global controller from October 2019 to August 2020, and senior director, controller from June 2015 to September 2019. Prior to joining PayPal, Karbowski served as the director, accounting at Skype, a division of the Microsoft Corporation, and a senior manager at Ernst & Young. Karbowski is a certified public accountant and holds a B.A. in accounting from West Virginia University.
