Catherine Tate Comedy ‘The Nan Movie’ Slated for VOD July 22

Screen Media will release the British comedy The Nan Movie in theaters and on demand July 22.

The film is based on the Nan character from the BBC series “The Catherine Tate Show,” a foul-mouthed grandmother named Joannie Taylor played by Tate herself.

In the film, Nan goes on a wild road trip from London to Ireland with her long-suffering grandson Jamie to make amends with her estranged and dying sister Nell. Through a series of flashbacks, we see the young sisters fall in love with the same handsome G.I. during World War II and how the consequences of this love triangle shaped Nan into the cantankerous persona she is today. Militant vegan arsonists, Australian rugby teams, all-night raves, and crazed cops on motorbikes all make for a proper day out.

The film was written by Tate and “Ted Lasso” star Brett Goldstein. The cast also includes Matthew Horne, Katherine Parkinson, Parker Sawyers, Tom Vaughn-Lawlor, Jack Doolan and Niky Wardley.
