Amazon MGM Studios, Tastemade in First-Look Deal to Produce Lifestyle Content

Amazon MGM Studios and Tastemade Jan. 17 announced a first-look deal to produce unscripted lifestyle content.

As part of the partnership, Amazon MGM Studios and Tastemade plan to bring 15 new shows to Prime Video and Amazon Freevee audiences over the next few years.

“Dish It Out” will be the first unscripted series on the roster, hosted by TV personality, chef, and social media content creator Matilda “Tilly” Ramsay — the daughter of multi-Michelin-star chef Gordon Ramsay. In each episode, Tilly Ramsay will receive a mystery box of goods from various chefs and home cooks around the world, piecing together the items in each box to create a globally inspired dish. The series has received a 32-episode order and production will begin in 2024 in Tastemade’s London studios.

All content will be produced by Tastemade Studios, helmed by Taye Shuayb, global head of studios and content development. Content will range from cooking competitions to travel shows and will be hosted by notable talent across the food and entertainment space. Amazon Freevee also offers a number of Tastemade free ad-supported streaming television (FAST) Channels, including “Tastemade,” “Tastemade Travel,” “Tastemade Home,” and “Tastemade en Español” on the free streaming service.

Reelgood: Amazon Freevee’s ‘Jury Duty’ Cracks Top 10 Streaming Chart

Amazon Freevee’s (formerly IMDb TV) original reality-based court comedy series “Jury Duty” continues to defy expectations, cracking the top 10 in Reelgood’s weekly streaming chart through April 27. The company tracks real-time data from 5 million platform users living in the United States across SVOD and AVOD services for original and acquired streaming programs and movies.

“Jury Duty,” which features a fictional jury trial with one of the jurors actually believing it to be a real, ranked No. 9 on the chart, ahead of previous chart topper Cocaine Bear (Universal Pictures), starring Keri Russell. Netflix’s “The Diplomat,” also starring Russell, topped the chart.

New among the top 10 were Prime Video’s “Citadel,” Disney+’s “Peter Pan & Wendy”  and HBO Max’s “Love & Death.”

Notably, Netflix ended the week with just two shows on the chart, the same number as HBO Max.

Cinedigm Launches Three New FAST Channels on Amazon Freevee

Cinedigm April 11 announced the launch of three free ad-supported streaming television (FAST) channels on Amazon Freevee. The channels include anime-based RetroCrush, family-friendly The Dove Channel, and documentary-based Docurama.

Freevee users will have access to RetroCrush titles, including Bubblegum CrisisCyber City Oedo 808 and Megazone 23, in addition to exclusive feature Fusé: Memoirs of the Hunter Girl and Fatal Fury: The Motion Picture.

Dove Channel programming includes “Sue Thomas F.B.Eye,” “McLeod’s Daughters,” “The Ultimate Gift” and “A Match Made at Christmas”.

Docurama programming includes Secrets of the UniverseBattlefronts of World War II and Beatles: How the Beatles Changed the World.

These channels join Cinedigm’s Realmadrid TV, El Rey, Bob Ross: The Joy of Painting, The Elvis Presley Channel, Midnight Pulp, and the Nacelle Pop Channel already streaming on Amazon Freevee.

“Each channel has seen major success in building audiences via its linear channel and VOD apps, as well as on social media, and now we are able to expand the reach of these channels to a new audience with this agreement,” David Chu, EVP and GM of Cinedigm Networks, said in a statement.

Speedvision FAST Channel Available on Amazon Freevee

Auto entertainment network Speedvision is now available as a free ad-supported streaming TV (FAST) linear channel on Amazon Freevee in the United States, the network announced.

The network for auto-passionate viewers has a library of more than 500 content hours spanning any vehicle powered by an engine. From car build shows and garage content, to automotive history and auction programming, the network features titles including “Graveyard Carz,” “AmeriCarna,” “Stacey David’s Gearz” and “Two Guys Garage,” as well as motorcycle and aviation series. Speedvision also features such talent and experts as Wayne Carini, Bill Goldberg, Mark Worman, Stacy David, Ant Anstead and Ray Evernham.

“Launching Speedvision on Amazon Freevee is further evidence of our rapid growth from providing highly attractive content to advertisers and our enormous auto passionate audience,” Robert Scanlon, president and CEO of Speedvision, said in a statement. “The Speedvision FAST Channel now available on Amazon Freevee represents a go-to content source for our viewers, so we’re extremely pleased to give them the gold-standard automotive programming they want, where they want it.”

Amazon Freevee Nabs Select ‘Neighbours’ Episodes

Amazon’s free ad-supported streaming platform Freevee announced it would offer a selection of “Neighbours” TV episodes, beginning Feb. 23.

The longtime Australian drama series about the lives, loves and challenges of the residents on Ramsay Street in Erinsborough, a fictional suburb of Melbourne, ran for more than three decades and nearly 9,000 episodes. The show provided career launch pads for Margot Robbie, Russell Crowe, Kylie Minogue, Jason Donovan, Guy Pearce, Natalie Imbruglia and Liam Hemsworth, among others.

The debut will include all the episodes from the 2012 season, featuring the show’s memorable first kiss between characters Chris and Aidan, as well as Toadie’s heartwarming proposal to Sonya, and Lucas and Vanessa’s dramatic wedding day. The library content will be available exclusively on Amazon Freevee in the United States and United Kingdom. Prime Video customers in Australia, New Zealand, Canada, Ireland and South Africa will also have access to the previous seasons and episodes.

A library season of “Neighbours” will launch on the service every month until the show’s new season premiere later this year. Starting Feb. 28, the streaming service will also launch a variety of “Neighbours” linear free ad-supported streaming channels, including “Neighbours — Looking Back” (Channel 1) and “Best of Neighbours” (Channel 2).

The revitalized series will premiere on Freevee in the U.K. and U.S., for free. Last year, Amazon and Fremantle announced they would be bringing back the show with Stefan Dennis, Alan Fletcher, Ryan Moloney and Jackie Woodburne returning to reprise their roles. The series will also stream on Prime Video in Australia, New Zealand, Canada, Ireland and South Africa. Production is set to commence early this year with a world premiere slated for the second half of the year. 

Warner Bros. Discovery Ups Automotive TV Programming on Amazon Freevee

Warner Bros. Discovery unit, MotorTrend Group, Dec. 13 announced expanded distribution of the brand’s automotive TV programming — MotorTrend FAST TV — with new availability on the Amazon Freevee app.

“The more platforms we are available on, the more automotive enthusiasts we can reach, and ultimately the more viewers we can introduce to the motoring world,” Mark Jocson, head of distribution for MotorTrend Group, said in a statement.

Amazon Freevee, formerly known as IMDb TV, is a streaming video service featuring premium movies and TV shows, including originals and free ad-supported streaming TV (FAST) channels.

MotorTrend FAST TV shows include “Roadkill,” “Bitchin’ Rides,” and “Texas Metal,” among others. “Roadkill” features experts David Freiburger and Mike Finnegan, who specialize in automotive chaos theory — brilliant execution of bad ideas involving all manner of muscle cars, 4x4s and/or hot rods. The show has spawned a spinoff show, “Faster With Finnegan.”

MotorTrend FAST TV is currently also available on platforms, including Samsung TV Plus and Comcast’s Xumo.

Cinedigm Inks Distribution Deal With Amazon Freevee

Cinedigm Dec. 8 announced the availability of the El Rey Network and RealmadridTV channels on free ad-supported Amazon Freevee (formerly IMDb TV).

El Rey Network offers a mix of Latino-inclusive content curated by director Robert Rodriguez, while Realmadrid TV features soccer matches and more from one of the world’s most recognized sports team brands (Real Madrid FC). This announcement comes on the heels of Cinedigm, in conjunction with The Nacelle Company, launching the pop-culture channel, NacellePop on Freevee.

“[Our] agreement with Amazon Freevee is yet another step in our strategy to expand the audience for Real Madrid’s streaming channel,” Erick Opeka, president/chief strategy officer, said in a statement.

Said Cinedigm Vice President of Business Development & Strategy, Jennifer Soltesz, VP of business development and strategy, said the El Rey Network and NacellePop bring diversity to Freevee.

“Viewers will have the opportunity to expand their horizons and recapture their youth,” Soltesz said.

In 2021, Cinedigm relaunched El Rey Network as a free ad-supported streaming service showcasing Rodriguez’s conversations with directors such as John Carpenter and Quentin Tarantino in “The Director’s Chair,” and “Rebel Without A Crew: The Series,” in which aspiring filmmakers set out to make their first feature under Rodriguez’s guidance.

Since partnering with Real Madrid, Cinedigm has increased the distribution base of Realmadrid TV, making it more accessible to North American fans. The channel features more than 8,000 hours of content, including three matches weekly of Real Madrid’s La Liga games, as well as their UEFA Champions League and Cup tournaments during the 2022-2023 season. In addition, the channel offers classic programming, club insights and breaking news.

Fubo Sports Network Now Streaming on Amazon Freevee

Fubo Sports Network, the ad-supported free-to-consumer TV network from FuboTV, has launched on Amazon Freevee (formerly IMDb TV). The deal now makes the channel available on more than 155 million devices across multiple streaming platforms. 

Fubo Sports Network, which closed September 2022 with its highest viewership to date, is now available on LG Channels, Samsung TV Plus, The Roku Channel, Vizio WatchFree+, Tubi, Plex and Xumo, in addition to social media platforms Instagram, TikTok, Twitch, Twitter and YouTube. Fubo Sports Network is also available as part of FuboTV’s subscription packages featuring 125-plus sports, news and entertainment channels.

Fubo Sports Network recently expanded its original programming with the addition of two new series, “Airing It Out” with Housh and Scandrick, and “The Young Person Basketball Podcast” with R.J. Hampton, and new seasons of returning favorites “No Chill” with Gilbert Arenas and “Getcha Popcorn Ready” with T.O. and Hatch

“With the launch on Amazon Freevee, we’re bringing our athlete-driven programming and original series to more eyeballs,” Pamela Duckworth, head of Fubo Networks and originals, FuboTV, said in a statement.

Duckworth contends there is a growing appetite among viewers for to see and hear the voice of the athlete in TV programming.

“Platforms like Freevee allow us to do just that at no extra cost for our audiences,” she said.

Amazon Freevee Now Streaming on Apple Devices

Amazon’s ad-supported streaming video service Freevee is now available on the Apple platform, including Apple TV, iPad and iPhone. The erstwhile IMDb TV earlier this month made itself available on the Roku platform, including Fire TV.

The Freevee app is also available on Sony PlayStation and Microsoft XBox video game consoles, on the Vizio SmartCast, LG WebOS and Vizio SmartCast operating systems for internet-connected TVs.

On May 2, Freevee announced a slate of premium originals, with multiple pickups of scripted and unscripted content. The ad-supported streaming service greenlighted a new cooking competition series called “America’s Test Kitchen: The Next Generation,” the coming-of-age drama “Beyond Black Beauty,” the family competition series “Play-Doh Squished,” and the music documentary Post Malone: Runaway.

Freevee also picked up a second season of “Bosch: Legacy” and a third and fourth season of Uninterrupted’s “Top Class: The Life and Times of the Sierra Canyon Trailblazers.”

Amazon Freevee Expands Originals Release Slate Across Multiple Genres

Amazon Freevee (formerly IMDb TV) May 2 announced an increased slate of premium originals, with multiple pickups of scripted and unscripted content. The ad-supported streaming service greenlit a new cooking competition series called “America’s Test Kitchen: The Next Generation,” the coming-of-age drama “Beyond Black Beauty,” the family competition series “Play-Doh Squished,” and the music documentary Post Malone: Runaway. Freevee also picked up a second season of “Bosch: Legacy” and a third and fourth season of Uninterrupted’s “Top Class: The Life and Times of the Sierra Canyon Trailblazers.”

Additionally, Freevee has secured a short-term film licensing agreement with Disney Media & Entertainment Distribution for a limited selection of titles such as Deadpool, Deadpool 2, Logan, Hidden Figures, Murder on the Orient Express, and The Post, which will be available to customers on the free streaming service.

This news follows the previously announced Freevee deal with NBCU for an exclusive network-window for films from Universal Filmed Entertainment Group’s 2020-21 theatrical slate, including titles such as Dolittle, The Invisible Man, Promising Young Woman, F9 (Fast & Furious 9), and Sing 2.

The platform also announced that it has increased its FAST (free ad-supported streaming television) offering to more than 75 channels, including exclusive linear channels for the hit Canadian sitcom “Kim’s Convenience,” as well as the original “The Kids in the Hall” comedy series.

“Amazon Freevee is a trailblazer in the AVOD space, reimagining, redefining, and leveling up the quality of content offered by a free streaming service,” Lauren Anderson and Ryan Pirozzi, co-heads of content and programming at the platform, said in the statement.

“America’s Test Kitchen: The Next Generation” is a new unscripted competition series to find the next dynamic talent to join the America’s Test Kitchen (ATK) team.

“Beyond Black Beauty”: Inspired by the beloved novel, Beyond Black Beauty is a coming-of-age dramedy that follows Jolie Dumont, an equestrian with Olympic aspirations whose journey is suddenly halted when her mother, Janelle, moves them from their posh Belgium life to Janelle’s childhood home in Baltimore.

“Bosch: Legacy” — Season Two: Prior to the first season premiere on May 6, Freevee has picked up a second season of the Amazon Prime Video original “Bosch” spinoff series, which follows retired homicide detective turned private investigator Harry Bosch (Titus Welliver) as he fights to work cases without the authority his former job provided.

“Inside No. 9”: Based on the BBC’s award-winning anthology series, the series mixes humor with horror, crime, and suspense, with each episode loosely linked via the inclusion of the number nine. From Lionsgate Television and BBC Studios Los Angeles Productions, this dark comedy features high stakes, shocking twists, and the unexpected.

“Play-Doh Squished”: Sarah Hyland hosts this fast-paced, family competition series where three teams of four family members and/or friends compete in a series of physical and creative challenges.

Post Malone: Runaway: A one-hour music documentary showcasing the story of Grammy-nominated Post Malone’s first arena tour, 2019’s The Runaway Tour. The movie, which will be the second original film on Freevee, features exclusive backstage access, live performances and interviews.

UNINTERRUPTED’s “Top Class: The Life and Times of the Sierra Canyon Trailblazers.” The original docuseries showcases the Sierra Canyon Trailblazers, one of Southern California’s elite high school basketball teams, as they chase championship history and balance school, friendships, and their budding basketball careers. LeBron James and Maverick Carter return as executive producers.

“We have built a destination where viewers know they can discover and enjoy something new,” Anderson and Pirozzi said.
