‘Heat’ Headed to 4K Ultra HD Aug. 9 After Star-Studded Screening at Tribeca

A special screening at the Tribeca Film Festival will celebrate the Aug. 9 release of 20th Century Studios’ Heat on 4K Ultra HD Disc for the first time.

Robert DeNiro, Al Pacino and writer-director Michael Mann will reunite at this year’s Tribeca Festival June 17 for the first public premiere of the new 4K Ultra HD version of Michael Mann’s 1995 classic. The screening will be followed by an on-stage conversation, moderated by journalist and filmmaker Bilge Ebiri.

In Heat, in the wake of a precision heist of an armored truck, an obsessive detective (Pacino) begins to hunt ruthless, professional thief Neil McCauley (De Niro) through the streets of Los Angeles. As the stakes escalate, their lives begin to mirror and unravel, and McCauley’s crew initiates its most dangerous and complex heist. The film co-stars Val Kilmer, Tom Sizemore, Ashley Judd, Amy Brenneman, Diane Venora, Natalie Portman and Jon Voight.

The remastered film on disc includes previously released audio commentary with Mann, Q&As, deleted scenes and more extras.

Also on Aug. 9, Mann’s first novel, Heat 2, which tells an original story woven from the lives of the characters in Heat, both before and after the events depicted in the movie, will be published.

Tom Cruise Action Thriller ‘Edge of Tomorrow’ Headed to 4K July 5

The 2014 Tom Cruise action thriller Edge of Tomorrow will be released on 4K Ultra HD Blu-ray combo pack and digital July 5 from Warner Bros. Home Entertainment.

Co-starring Emily Blunt and directed by Doug Liman (The Bourne Identity, Mr. & Mrs. Smith), the film takes place as an alien race, undefeatable by any existing military unit, has launched a relentless attack on Earth, and Major William Cage (Cruise) finds himself dropped into a suicide mission. Killed within minutes, Cage is thrown into a time loop, forced to live out the same brutal combat over and over, fighting and dying again and again. Training alongside Rita Vrataski (Blunt), his skills slowly evolve, and each battle moves them a step closer to defeating the enemy.  ​

The action thriller The Contractor will be released on 4K Ultra HD, Blu-ray and DVD June 7 from Paramount Home Entertainment.

In the film, Chris Pine stars as Special Forces Sergeant James Harper, who is involuntarily discharged from the Army and cut-off from his pension. In debt, out of options and desperate to provide for his family, Harper contracts with a private underground military force. When the very first assignment goes awry, the elite soldier finds himself hunted and on the run, caught in a dangerous conspiracy and fighting to stay alive long enough to get home and uncover the true motives of those who betrayed him.

Liam Neeson Thriller ‘Blacklight’ Due on Digital April 19, Disc May 3

The Liam Neeson action thriller Blacklight will be released for digital sellthrough April 19, and on Blu-ray and DVD May 3 from Universal Pictures Home Entertainment.

From Briarcliff Entertainment, the film follows a troubled off-the-books agent for the Federal Bureau of Investigation who finds himself in the middle of a deadly conspiracy. Travis Block (Neeson), a freelance government “fixer,” is a dangerous man whose assignments have included extracting agents out of deep-cover situations. He knows his hands are dirty, but he’s aiming to change. When an agent is killed after infiltrating a group espousing violent societal upheaval, Block discovers a shadowy program called Operation Unity is striking down ordinary citizens for reasons known only to Block’s boss, FBI chief Robinson (Aidan Quinn). As Block gets closer to the truth, he enlists the help of a journalist (Emmy Raver-Lampman), but his past and present collide when his daughter and granddaughter are threatened.

‘The King’s Man’ Due on Digital Feb. 18, Disc Feb. 22

The action thriller The King’s Man will be released through digital retailers Feb. 18, and on 4K UHD, Blu-ray and DVD Feb. 22 from Disney Media and Entertainment Distribution.

Also available digitally and in a Steelbook will be “The Kingsman Collection,” featuring all three films with bonus features together for the first time.

Set during World War I, The King’s Man tells the origin story of the world’s very first independent intelligence agency. As a collection of history’s worst tyrants and criminal masterminds gather to plot a war to wipe out millions across the globe, one man must race against time to stop them.

Russian Thriller ‘The Pilot’ Due on Digital and Disc March 1 From Well Go

The Russian action thriller The Pilot will be released on Blu-ray Disc and DVD, and through digital retailers March 1 from Well Go USA Entertainment.

Based on the true story of a World War II pilot whose fighter plane was shot down over the German-occupied Novgorod Region, the film follows the tale of Russian Aleksey Maresyev, who faces a relentless test of physical and mental endurance, battling hunger, extreme cold, and wild animals, all while evading Nazi soldiers — as he attempts to return home.

The Saban Films action thriller Locked in, starring Mena Suvari and Jeff Fahey, will debut on DVD July 6 from Paramount Home Entertainment.

In the film, after a diamond heist takes a fatal turn, a pair of thieves must entrust their fortune with an accomplice at a high-tech storage facility while they lay low. Action Thriller ‘Night Walk’ Coming to DVD June 15

The action thriller Night Walk, starring Mickey Rourke, Eric Roberts and Sean Stone, will come out on DVD and will be available for rental June 15 from Lionsgate.

Mickey Rourke stars in the film about one man’s quest for justice, which starts as Frank, an American, visits the Middle East with his girlfriend, Sarah. When Sarah is killed in a police incident, Frank is framed for her murder and sent to a prison in the United States. Then, after uncovering the conspiracy that led to Frank’s sentence, his friend dies mysteriously. Now, seeking bloody justice, Frank plans to escape from prison — but must partner with a dangerous gang to do so.
