‘Madame Web’ Due on 4K Ultra HD, Blu-ray and DVD April 30

Sony Pictures Home Entertainment will release the Marvel Comics-based Madame Web on 4K Ultra HD, Blu-ray and DVD April 30.

The film, which earned $99.8 million at the global box office, tells the standalone origin story of one of Marvel publishing’s most enigmatic heroines. The suspense thriller stars Dakota Johnson as Cassandra Webb, a paramedic in Manhattan who may have clairvoyant abilities. Forced to confront revelations about her past, she forges a relationship with three young women destined for powerful futures — if they can all survive a deadly present.

‘Hunger Games: The Ballad of Songbirds & Snakes’ Due on Regular Digital Jan. 30, Disc Feb. 13

The “Hunger Games” franchise prequel The Hunger Games: The Ballad of Songbirds & Snakes arrives for regular digital purchase Jan. 30 (after a premium run) and 4K Ultra HD (plus Blu-ray plus digital), Blu-ray (plus DVD plus digital), and DVD Feb. 13 from Lionsgate.

The film has earned more than $325 million at the box office worldwide.

Set 64 years before Katniss Everdeen volunteered as tribute, and decades before Coriolanus Snow became the tyrannical President of Panem, The Hunger Games: The Ballad of Songbirds & Snakes follows a young Coriolanus as he unites with Lucy Gray Baird in the 10th Hunger Games, and battles his instincts for both good and evil.

Classic 1984 Film ‘Footloose’ Headed to 4K Ultra HD Feb. 13

Paramount Home Entertainment will release the 1980s classic Footloose — about a city boy whose rebellious love for music and dancing shakes up a small town — on 4K Ultra HD Blu-ray Disc Feb. 13. 

In the film, which was originally released on Feb. 17, 1984, city-boy Ren McCormick (Kevin Bacon) is new to an uptight small town where dancing has been banned. Ren quickly makes a new best friend in Willard (Chris Penn) and falls fast for the minister’s daughter (Lori Singer), but his love for music and dancing gets him into hot water.

Directed by Herbert Ross and written by composer and writer Dean Pitchford, the film earned $80 million at the domestic box office.  The supporting cast also includes Dianne Wiest, John Lithgow and Sarah Jessica Parker.

The soundtrack features Kenny Loggins, Shalamar, Deniece Williams, Bonnie Tyler, Quiet Riot, John Mellencamp, Foreigner, and more.  Both the songs “Footloose” and “Let’s Hear It for the Boy” were nominated for the Academy Award for Best Music, Original Song.

Lionsgate will release a Walmart exclusive “Expendables” Steelbook collection in 4K Ultra HD (plus Blu-ray and digital), including The Expendables, The Expendables 2, The Expendables 3 and Expend4ables, on Nov. 21.

The “Expendables” films star Sylvester Stallone (who also directed the first entry in the series) along with a cadre of action heroes. ‘Stand by Me’ Headed to 4K Ultra HD Steelbook Dec. 5

Sony Pictures Home Entertainment will release the 1986 coming-of-age classic Stand by Me in a 4K Ultra HD limited-edition Steelbook (plus Blu-ray) Dec. 5.

In the film based on the novella The Body by Stephen King., in a small woodsy Oregon town, a group of friends — sensitive Gordie (Wil Wheaton), tough guy Chris (River Phoenix), flamboyant Teddy (Corey Feldman), and scaredy-cat Vern (Jerry O’Connell) — are in search of a missing teenager’s body. Wanting to be heroes in each other’s and their hometown’s eyes, they set out on an unforgettable two-day trek that turns into an odyssey of self-discovery. They sneak smokes, tell tall tales, cuss ’cause it’s cool and band together when the going gets tough. When they encounter the town’s knife-wielding hoods who are also after the body, the boys discover a strength they never knew they had. 

On the 4K disc, the feature presented in 4K resolution with Dolby Vision and Dolby Atmos + DTS-HD MA 5.1 and Mono audio options. Special features on the 4K disc include deleted and alternate scenes (presented in HD).

The film has earned $179.1 million at the global box office.

In Mutant Mayhem, after years of being sheltered from the human world, the Turtle brothers set out to win the hearts of New Yorkers and be accepted as normal teenagers through heroic acts. Their new friend April O’Neil helps them take on a mysterious crime syndicate, but they soon get in over their heads when an army of mutants is unleashed upon them. The voice cast includes Jackie Chan and Ice Cube.

From director Ridley Scott (The Martian) and producer Jerry Bruckheimer (Pearl Harbor) comes Black Hawk Down, a true story about bravery, camaraderie and the complex reality of war. In 1993, an elite group of American Rangers and Delta Force soldiers are sent to Somalia on a critical mission to capture a violent warlord whose corrupt regime has led to the starvation of hundreds of thousands of Somalis. When the mission goes quickly and terribly wrong, the men find themselves outnumbered and fighting for their lives. The film stars Josh Hartnett, Ewan McGregor and Eric Bana.

‘Predator’ Prequel ‘Prey’ Headed to 4K UHD, Blu-ray and DVD Oct. 3

Disney-owned 20th Century Studios’ Prey, the prequel to the “Predator” films, arrives on 4K Ultra HD, Blu-ray and DVD on Oct. 3. As part of a special artist line, a collector’s edition 4K Steelbook, designed by digital artist Attila Szarka, will also be available exclusively at Best Buy.

The science-fiction film, which previously streamed on Hulu, was nominated for six Emmys, including Outstanding Television Movie.

The “Predator” legacy continues with this action thriller set in 1719 on the Great Plains with a band of Comanches. When Naru, a fierce and highly skilled young warrior, sets out to protect her people, the prey she stalks turns out to be a highly evolved alien predator — leading to a vicious and terrifying showdown.

All formats include a full-length Comanche audio track. Special features include:

Lionsgate will release the thriller Fall Sept. 19 on 4K Ultra HD Steelbook (plus Blu-ray plus digital) exclusively at Best Buy.

In the thriller, 51 painful weeks after a life-altering incident that scarred her for life, emotionally fragile rock climber Becky (Grace Caroline Currey) reluctantly decides to confront her fears, and along with her thrill-seeking friend Hunter (Virginia Gardner), attempts what may be the hardest ascent in their young lives. But after they climb 2,000 feet to the top of a remote, abandoned radio tower, they find themselves stranded with no way down. Now Becky and Hunter’s expert climbing skills will be put to the ultimate test as they desperately fight to survive the elements, a lack of supplies, and vertigo-inducing heights. The film costars Jeffrey Dean Morgan.

Once there, they find themselves caught in a deadly web of deceit and betrayal.
