‘Stranger Things’ Still No. 1 on Parrot’s Digital Originals Chart; ‘Ginny & Georgia’ Joins Top 10

Netflix’s supernatural thriller “Stranger Things” remained No. 1 on Parrot Analytics’ digital originals U.S. rankings the week ended Jan. 13. The series had no change in demand expressions, the proprietary metric Parrot uses to gauge a show’s popularity, giving it 63.6 times the demand of an average series. “Stranger Things” was No. 2 on Parrot’s list of overall TV shows.

The biggest jump into the digital originals top 10 came at No. 4, with Netflix’s “Ginny & Georgia up from No. 48 the week before with a 116% rise in demand expressions following the Jan. 5 debut of its second season. It had 34.8 times average demand.

The No. 2 digital original was Netflix’s “Wednesday,” which was up two spots thanks to a 23.1% rise in demand expressions to give it 45.4 times average demand. The “Addams Family”-inspired series was renewed for a second season during the week.’

Holding steady at No. 3 on the digital originals chart was the Disney+ “Star Wars” series “The Mandalorian,” which had a 0.13% drop in demand expressions to give it 38.3 times average demand.

Netflix’s “The Witcher” dropped three spots to No. 5 on the digital originals chart, with a 12.2% drop in demand expressions, giving it 33.8 times average demand.

A “digital original” is Parrot’s term for a multi-episode series in which the most recent season was first made available on a streaming platform such as Netflix, Amazon Prime Video, Hulu or Disney+.

The No. 1 overall TV series in terms of online demand was “SpongeBob SquarePants” with 77.9 times average demand.
