Sony Pictures Home Entertainment’s Spider-Man: No Way Home retained its No. 1 spot in home entertainment sales in the U.K. for the week ended March 30, according to new data from The Official Film Chart. The box office behemoth maintained its chart-topping reign based on digital downloads only, despite strong competition from Warner Bros. Pictures’ The Matrix Resurrections.
The sci-fi sequel kept its runner-up ranking for a second week but saw a boost in sales thanks to its release on DVD, Blu-ray Disc and 4K UHD Blu-ray. The title is the biggest movie release on disc in the past seven days and sees 72% of its total made up of physical copies.
Meanwhile, Warner’s Dune (No. 3) and MGM/Universal Pictures Home Entertainment’s No Time to Die (No. 4) both rebounded one spot, pushing Paramount Home Entertainment’s Clifford the Big Red Dog down one spot to No. 5.
Searchlight Pictures’ Oscar-nominated neo-noir thriller Nightmare Alley entered the top 10 for the first time at No. 6. Starring Bradley Cooper, Cate Blanchette, Toni Collette and Willem Dafoe, the Guillermo del Toro feature was nominated for trophies at the 94th Academy Awards, including Best Motion Picture.
Disney’s West Side Story placed at No. 7, while animated musical Encanto held tight at No. 8. Sony’s Ghostbusters: Afterlife held on at No. 9 and 20th Century Studios’ The King’s Man dropped two spots to No. 10.
Just outside the top 10, The Godfather Trilogy from Paramount Home Entertainment bowed at No. 11; the release is a five-disc collector’s edition boxed set of the classic film series re-released in 4K UHD to mark the 50th anniversary of the first film.
Finally, musical Dear Evan Hansen climbed to No. 13, following its release on packaged media.
