Simone Biles, Team USA Gymnasts to Stream Special Performance Event

Simone Biles, the most decorated female gymnast of all time, her Team USA Tokyo 2020 Summer Olympics teammates and other world-class performers, will perform Dec. 4 in a special streaming video performance, dubbed the “Athleta Presents Gold Over America Tour,” at 1 p.m. PT/4 p.m. ET.

The event, filmed in Houston, is approximately 110 minutes long with an intermission. Pricing for the event has not been disclosed.

In addition to Biles, the streaming event is slated to include “high-energy, gymnastics-meets-pop-concert” performances from Jade Carey, who won gold in floor exercise; Jordan Chiles and Grace McCallum, who each won silver for team competition; and MyKayla Skinner, who won silver in vault.

Additional participants include 2016 gold and silver medalist in Rio and “Dancing With The Stars” champion Laurie Hernandez; All-American, NCAA National Champion Katelyn Ohashi; Morgan Hurd, winner of three gold medals in 2019 and 2020 at the Tokyo World Cup; elite gymnast Shilese Jones; former USA Gymnastics Women’s Athlete of the Year Chellsie Memmel; 2021 French Olympian Melanie De Jesus dos Santos; the top Canadian female gymnast of all time Ellie Black; and U.S. National Team member from 2012-2016 and the 2018 NCAA Gymnastics Champion Nia Dennis.

Sunisa Lee, the women’s all-around gold medalist at Tokyo, is not participating in the event.

In the streaming event, each athlete performs some of her most famous routines mixed with career highlights, personal videos and social media interactions. The show emerges from their personal values of empowerment, friendship, positive body image, mental health awareness and self-confidence.

“I hope the Tour has inspired the next generation of athletes, and I’m excited that more people might now be able to see our incredible show,” Biles said in a statement.

Mental health became a top theme at the Games when Biles withdrew from select events citing mental fatigue. Her decision to remain on the sideline and allow her teammates to shine was widely praised, while also putting renewed attention on the stresses put upon young female gymnasts at the elite level.
