‘Sick’ Tops Redbox Disc Rental Chart; ‘Fast X’ No. 1 on Digital Chart

Universal Pictures’ Sick debuted in the top spot on the Redbox disc rental chart the week ended Sept. 24.

A pandemic-set slasher film, Sick was also No. 7 on the Redbox On Demand chart, which tracks digital VOD and sellthrough transactions. The horror film premiered on the Peacock streaming service earlier this year.

No. 2 on the disc rental chart, which tracks DVD and Blu-ray Disc rentals at Redbox’s thousands of red kiosks, was Universal’s Fast X, falling out of the top spot after six weeks. The “Fast & Furious” sequel did return atop Redbox’s digital chart, however.

The shuffling of the disc chart also pushed Lionsgate’s John Wick: Chapter 4 to No. 3, ending a nine-week stretch for the actioner in the second disc-rental spot.

The previous weeks’ top digital title, Warner’s Barbie, fell to No. 2 on that chart.

Universal’s Kandahar, a war drama starring Gerard Butler, slid to No. 4 on the disc rental chart, but grabbed No. 10 on the digital chart.

Universal’s The Super Mario Bros. Movie fell to No. 5 on the disc rental chart. The adaptation of the Nintendo video game franchise dropped to No. 8 on Redbox On Demand chart.

On the digital chart, Warner’s Meg 2: The Trench, the sequel to the action thriller about Jason Statham taking on a giant shark, rose a spot to No. 3.

The No. 4 digital title was Guy Ritchie’s The Covenent, from MGM. No. 5 was Universal’s Strays, down two spots from a week earlier.
