Shout! Factory Releasing Massive ‘Abbott and Costello’ Blu-ray Set

Shout! Factory Nov. 19 will release Abbott and Costello: The Complete Universal Pictures Collection on Blu-ray Disc.

The 15-disc set includes all 28 of Bud Abbott and Lou Costello’s films from the height of their popularity at Universal Pictures, spanning 1940 to 1965. Celebrating the 80th anniversary of Abbott and Costello’s first film, One Night in the Tropics, the set features their most popular movies such as Buck Privates, Who Done It? and Abbott and Costello Meet Frankenstein, this set is filled with some of the most hilarious routines of all time, including “Who’s on First?”

Featurettes include “The World of Abbott and Costello,” “Abbott & Costello Meet Jerry Seinfeld” and “Abbott & Costello Meet the Monsters.” New extras include:

  • “Abbott and Costello: Their Lives and Legacy,” featuring interviews with Chris Costello (daughter of Lou Costello) and Ron Palumbo (co-author of Abbott and Costello In Hollywood);
  • “Abbott and Costello: Film Stories,” featuring an interview with author/film historian James L. Neibaur (The Monster Movies of Universal Studios);
  • “Abbott and Costello: Behind the Scenes” — Palumbo talks about the various writers and directors who worked with them;
  • “Abbott & Costello Meet Castle Films,” showcasing eight of their best 8mm/16mm films.
