Warner Bros. Home Entertainment’s Scoob! again took the top spot on the NPD VideoScan First Alert chart, which tracks combined DVD and Blu-ray Disc unit sales, and the dedicated Blu-ray Disc sales chart the week ended Aug. 8.
That marks the third consecutive week the CG-animated film based on the classic “Scooby-Doo” cartoon and other Hanna-Barbera characters has been the top disc seller in the United States.
Staying as the No. 2 seller on both charts, in its fifth week on disc, was Universal Pictures’ Trolls World Tour.
No. 3 was Warner’s direct-to-video sequel Deep Blue Sea 3, which is available on disc early for sale at Walmart and for rental at Redbox kiosks. It was No. 7 on the Blu-ray sales chart. The film will be widely available on Blu-ray and DVD Aug. 25.
No. 4 on both charts was a catalog title, Universal Pictures’ Jaws.
The top new disc release of the week came in at No. 5: Nickelodeon’s animated Paw Patrol: Dino Rescue, distributed by Paramount.
Paramount’s Sonic the Hedgehog slid to No. 6 on the overall disc chart but stayed at No. 3 on the Blu-ray chart.
The No. 5 Blu-ray seller was Universal’s 1917, which was No. 16 overall.
The only other new release in the top 50 debuted at No. 13 on both charts: HBO’s His Dark Materials: The Complete First Season, distributed by Warner.
The Media Play News rental chart for the week ended Aug. 9 had Scoob! on top for a third consecutive week, with You Should Have Left repeating at No. 2.
Warner’s direct-to-video Deep Blue Sea 3 was again No. 3.
Survive the Night stayed No. 4, while newcomer Money Plane, a heist thriller from Quiver Distribution, hit No. 5.
