Samba TV: ‘The Ice Age Adventures of Buck Wild’ No Match for NFL Football
February 2, 2022
When it comes to TV/streaming viewership, no content can match the popularity of the National Football League — not the finals of the Australian Open tennis competition or the Disney+ premiere of The Ice Age Adventures of Buck Wild.
New data from Samba TV found that the AFC and NFC conference championships generated more than 53 million combined viewers. The research firm tracks more than 46 million opted-in televisions globally, including 28 million in the United States.
About 26.9 million U.S. households watched the AFC Championship Game with the Cincinnati Bengals topping the Kansas City Chiefs in overtime, up 18% from the 2021 game. Another 26.4 million households watched the Los Angeles Rams come back to beat the San Francisco 49ers in the NFC Championship Game, which was up 19% year-over-year.

Samba said 823,000 U.S. homes watched the women’s final of the Aussie Open, which was down 11% from the previous year. Another 1.4 million homes watched the men’s final, which was up almost 60% from 2021.
