‘Ruby Gillman’ Tops Redbox Disc Chart for Second Week; ‘Exorcists’ Tops Digital Chart

Universal Pictures’ Ruby Gillman, Teenage Kraken was No. 1 on the Redbox disc rental chart the week ended Oct. 8, its second week in the top spot.

The DreamWorks Animation film follows a shy teenager who discovers that she’s part of a legendary royal lineage of mythical sea krakens and that her destiny, in the depths of the oceans, is bigger than she ever dreamed. It slipped a spot to No. 2 on the Redbox On Demand chart, which tracks digital VOD and sellthrough transactions.

Remaining No. 2 on the disc rental chart, which tracks DVD and Blu-ray Disc rentals at Redbox’s thousands of red kiosks, was Universal’s Fast X. The “Fast & Furious” sequel was also No. 4 on the Redbox On Demand chart.

Lionsgate’s John Wick: Chapter 4 remained the No. 3 disc rental, while Universal’s Sick stayed No. 4.

The No. 5 disc rental was Screen Media’s Monsters of California, a sci-fi actioner about a group of teenagers trying to uncover a paranormal conspiracy in Southern California. The film is available on disc early at Redbox prior to its Dec. 12 Blu-ray release.
