‘Rampage’ Leads Disc Sales for July

Warner Bros. Home Entertainment had the two top-selling titles on the list of combined Blu-ray Disc and DVD units sold for July 2018 according to the NPD Group’s VideoScan tracking.

Coming in at No. 1 was the video game adaptation Rampage, which sold 508,269 copies, according to VideoScan.

No. 2 was Ready Player One, director Steven Spielberg’s adaptation of the bestselling novel. The film topped the weekly disc sales charts its first two weeks in stores. VideoScan reported it sold 487,678 units during the month.

Paramount’s A Quiet Place, released at the beginning of the month, landed at No. 3 with unit sales of 310,634.

Two Fox releases rounded out the top five, with Super Troopers 2 landing at No. 4 after selling 203,209 copies during the month. The musical The Greatest Showman, released on disc in April, was No. 5.

The previous month’s top title, Lionsgate’s I Can Only Imagine, dropped to No. 7, behind Disney’s Black Panther at No. 6.

The year-to-date top 10 remained unchanged from the previous month, with Disney’s Star Wars: The Last Jedi remaining No. 1 on the list of the year’s top sellers, with VideoScan reporting the film has sold 3 million units. Black Panther is the year’s No. 2 seller with 2.7 million copies sold, according to VideoScan.
