‘Puss in Boots: The Last Wish’ Still No. 1 on Redbox Disc Rentals; ‘Ritual Killer’ Tops Digital Chart

Universal Pictures Home Entertainment’s Puss in Boots: The Last Wish remained No. 1 on the Redbox disc rental chart the week ended March 12.

The sequel from DreamWorks Animation, which was released on disc Feb. 28, finds the feline swashbuckler seeking a magical wishing star in order to restore his nine lives.

The new No. 1 on the Redbox On Demand chart, which tracks digital VOD and sellthrough transactions, was Screen Media’s The Ritual Killer, a thriller starring Cole Hauser as a detective who seeks advice from a professor (Morgan Freeman) to decode the ritualistic killings of a murderer. It was No. 3 on the disc rental chart, which tracks DVD and Blu-ray Disc rentals at Redbox’s thousands of red kiosks. The title is available on disc early at Redbox prior to its May 2 wide release.

The week’s No. 2 disc rental was again Paramount’s Devotion, a historical drama about one of the first black aviators who flew during the Korean War.

The previous week’s top title on the digital chart, Lionsgate’s Nicolas Cage Western The Old Way, slipped to No. 3 on the Redbox On Demand chart, and was No. 4 on the disc rental chart.

The No. 2 digital title was Sony Pictures’ Missing, a thriller about a girl searching for her mother, who disappeared while on vacation.
