Sandra Bullock has been a box office draw most of her career, including setting Netflix viewership records for her past two original movies on the streaming platform: Bird Box in 2018, and The Unforgivable last year.
Now the actress returns to the big screen with The Lost City, Paramount Pictures’ romantic adventure co-starring Channing Tatum and Daniel Radcliffe, with a cameo by Brad Pitt. Industry scuttlebutt suggests the movie will generate an estimated $30 million across more than 4,200 North American screens March 25-27 — which should be enough to unseat March box office champion The Batman with around $21 million in projected ticket sales across less than 4,000 screens. The Lost City reportedly tracked about $2.5 million in Thursday screenings.
The Robert Pattinson/Zoë Kravitz/Colin Farrell/Paul Dano co-starrer is looking to top $330 million in North American ticket sales; $630 million worldwide.
For Paramount, “Lost City” aims to continue the studio’s 2022 track record of successful releases, which included No. 1 box debuts for Scream in January and Jackass Forever in February.
Tatum also continues to have a sleeper hit at the box office with Dog, with the United Artists Releasing’s family-friendly movie expected to add $2.8 million in ticket sales, pushing its North American box office near $60 million.
