Nielsen: ‘The Mandalorian’ Weekly Streaming Minutes Decline
December 4, 2020
Disney+ original streaming series “The Mandalorian” releases new season episodes on a weekly basis, rather than all at once as Netflix does. Thus, the second episode of season two saw a near 8% dip in cumulative minutes (955 million) streamed through 10 chapters of the “Star Wars”-based sci-fi series, according to Nielsen’s weekly Top 10 SVOD chart through Nov. 8. The Season two premiere episode saw cumulative minutes top 1.03 billion minutes through nine episodes.
Regardless, “The Mandalorian” maintained its No. 3 spot on the Netflix-dominated chart that also tracks Amazon Prime Video and Hulu weekly content streaming consumption on household televisions. For the second week, Netflix original series “The Queen’s Gambit” topped the chart with 1.45 billion minutes streamed through seven episodes — down almost 22% from 1.85 billion minutes in the previous week.
