Nielsen: Netflix’s ‘Virgin River’ Slipped Ahead of ‘Stranger Things’ to Top Weekly Streaming Through July 24

After weeks of trying, Netflix’s Canadian romantic drama “Virgin River” topped all content streamed across household televisions for the week ended July 24, according to data from Nielsen. The series generated more than 2.6 billion minutes across 42 episodes to best the streamer’s longtime chart topper, “Stranger Things” with more than 2.2 billion minutes across more than 34 episodes.

Netflix again dominated Nielsen’s chart with nine of the top 10 streamed content, including top movie The Gray Man, which saw more than 1.4 billion minutes consumed to best all movies for the week and finish in the top three overall.

Lone competitors included Hulu, which shared billing with Netflix for licensed program “Alone,” which generated 745 million minutes across 49 episodes, and Prime Video’s “The Boys,” with 532 million minutes across 24 episodes.
