U.S. consumers streamed a lot of content on living room televisions during the first week of August. Perennial chart topper “Virgin River” swapped spots with Netflix’s other top original show, “Stranger Things,” with the sci-fi series generating more than 1.42 billion minutes of consumption across 34 episodes.
The previous week’s No. 1, “Virgin River,” realized more than 1.38 billion minutes across 42 episodes. That was more than enough to best streaming access of Pixar Animation’s movie Lightyear (1.3 billion minutes) on Disney+.
Netflix’s DC Comics-based series “The Sandman” (1.02 billion) and theatrical pickup movie Uncharted (1.01 billion) rounded out the billion+ minutes club. The streamer again dominated weekly viewing, accounting for 90% of all programs streamed on the household television.
