Streaming video across household televisions saw a busy in early February as five shows and one movie each topped more than 1 billion minutes consumed. Netflix’s award-winning “Ozark” continued its chart-topping ways, generating more than 2.3 billion minutes across 37 episodes through Feb. 6. That was down more than 40% from more than 4 billion minutes streamed in the prior week.
Disney+ animated musical Encanto (1.32 billion minutes) and Amazon Prime Video’s “Reacher” (1.84 billion) broke Netflix’s enduring stranglehold on top streamed programming.
“If you ever needed evidence streaming video is gaining momentum, I think we saw it this week,” Brian Fuhrer, SVP of product strategy at Nielsen, said on the webcast.
