Nielsen: Netflix’s ‘Day Shift,’ ‘The Sandman,’ ‘Stranger Things’ Topped Weekly Household Streaming Through Aug. 21

Netflix, once again, dominated Nielsen’s weekly household streaming, grabbing nine of the top 10 streamed titles across Nielsen household televisions for the week ended Aug. 21.

In its second weekend of release, original movie Day Shift topped all content, generating 957 million minutes streamed, slightly ahead of perennial chart topper “The Sandman,” with 946 million minutes across 11 episodes, and ongoing cult favorite “Stranger Things,” with 919 million minutes across 34 episodes.

Day Shift stars Jamie Foxx is a blue-collar dad hoping to provide a good life for his quick-witted daughter Paige (Zion Broadnax) and to stay in the good graces of his estranged wife Jocelyn (Meagan Good). His mundane San Fernando Valley pool cleaning job is a front for his real source of income: hunting and killing vampires.

The movie finished No. 4 in its premiere week with 982 million minutes viewed. The week was the first in 13 weeks to not have at least one program exceed 1 billion minutes streamed.
